It is extra baffling as Kenau directed himself . Thankfully unlike a lot of other director/actors he has knowledges he sucks at directing. The half aborted cop story is a massive chunk of evidence this movie when wrong. Him screaming is good stuff.

Kung Fu has never been anything but a niche circus act. Whenever you hear about a Kung Fu master it's always his ability to do something really oddball. Like balancing on thumbs, grabbing things really quickly, or some sort of endurance feat (holding something at arms length, balancing, etc.). Almost never anything that actually translates into fighting like they would like you to believe. Whenever you do see some "Kung Fu" master fight, it usually ends up with them being hilariously beaten in under a minute, they are just doing a choreographed fight, or fighting a literal nobody who has also been paid to take a dive. Also if you do see a Kung Fu guy win a seemingly legit fight, he's not actually using it, just punching and kicking like every other MMA fighter. Also Bruce Lee was an actor, not the world's most lethal person.

His Jeet Kun Do style was supposed to be a more practical version of a traditional martial art and there have been some successful MMA guys to come out of those schools.

The amount of salt that comes oozing out of internet warriors every time Lee's name comes up is pretty strange considering he spent half his life de-mystifying styles and secret technique hocus pocus and popularizing a practical mentality with a strong emphasis on physical conditioning that basically played precursor to the MMA poo poo that's all the rage these days. (It was a painkiller -> allergic reaction -> edema combo what done him in)

I should have been more clear I meant specifically the phenomenon I've seen several times over where a bunch of goons burst into a thread huffing and puffing and tripping over each other to inform anyone who will listen about how much Bruce Lee totally sucked rear end and how a mediocre MMA fighter could totally whoop him. Like the idea is to dispel all those nasty myths and legends while ignoring the fact that those got made up by nerds after he died anyway and that the guy himself, for the time especially, actually held mostly reasonable and realistic viewpoints. e: Like he greatly admired Muhammad Ali and openly admitted he wouldn't have stood a loving chance against him, not exactly the MO of a chinar kung fu master Budohead fucked around with this message at 05:50 on Aug 9, 2017 |

Bruce Lee was pretty good, and did some cool stuff, but he didn't exaggerate his talent, that was all other people. He could probably kick some serious rear end, but his modesty of "yeah I couldn't beat that professional fighter at his peak" is that realism and demystification mentioned earlier. Which begs the question, did Bruce Lee belong to "Good China", regular China, or America in terms of "he's our people"?

He was a Taoist, although I'unno how devout or whether he was into that horseshit mysticism that came when after the Dao De Ching was published.

Last time I looked at economic growth of China they're still at like 7%. Only a matter of time until they surpass the United States. I don't know why people like Fojar are denying the inevitability of China.

All this talk about NK bombing Guam, and people regurgitating the "China doesn't want a million refugees across their borders." Like, China has enough men to just stand there and hold hands so nobody gets in. They also don't care to shoot them. What's the big deal? I don't see how this refugee thing is even an issue for China.

In the 50s HK had a pretty active bareknuckle scene, people did that as a pasttime. Dimissing everything out of hand because it has something to do with china or chinese people is loving stupid.
