This looks like a 6-8k car to me but I am not a Skylark expert. And I don't see it ever appreciating in value.

The cops in the UK not carrying assault rifles and shooting people because they looked brown/maybe scary/like a white australian woman is in fact, a GOOD thing. There's not some sort of acceptance of actual crime because the rozzers come to your house the next day instead of playing Roscoe P Coltrane down main roads because it gets their dicks hard to play hardman law enforcement when in fact most of them are poo poo drivers with poo poo ability to control themselves (at least in the US.) In Begbie's day, glassing was a far greater danger than any of the popular new techniques, yet... The daily mail never once reports on the 65 million people who aren't nightly attacked in the UK by horrible acid ASBOs in their hoodies.

And bluntly put, it's probably not even a spike in the overall rates. Crime rates on just about everything is going lower - but if you read Murdoch media you wouldnt know because it doesnt sell papers. Yellow Journalism rags have zero interest in reporting the truth in crime - they go as far as make poo poo up to get the next crime scare going. You want fake news? It's actually spewed from News Corp Here's how it literally works "OMG RAPE HAS GONE UP 20%!!!!!" - actual stats show rape rates are down 15% overall, there's been a spike small spike up but the trendlines are still going down. Papers use the spike to stir poo poo for *reasons* (usually at some minority). Papers get sold. It goes as far as making up criminal gangs formed from *insert minority here* - the Apex "gang" in Melbourne is a classic example. The Herald Sun claimed it was Sudanese and there was TERRIR in the suburbs with increase in crime etc.... https://www.crikey.com.au/2017/04/21/did-the-herald-sun-invent-the-sudanese-youth-apex-gang/ Apex didnt really exist and it was NOT an ethnic gang. Youth crime had also dropped in reality there was no terror, there was no suburban takeover by youths. Most of it was a straight out ever a beat up or bullshit.

Yeah, unless it's an indictable offence (felony) cops here don't do poo poo for property crimes unless the suspect might be tied to another, more serious crime. By coincidence, my neighbours dads truck, a 1 year old F350 turbo diesel just got stolen yesterday in Red Deer, for the 2nd time in a year. Poor fucker was just going through town and stopped at a store for a couple minutes. That's how it happened last time too. So I'm running on about 3 cylinders today and its the worst day of the year for it. Need to move, spread, grade 22 yards of topsoil and sod my back yard today. I was blessed by a neighbours dog going apeshit (one of 5 they have) @ 1AM. Went on for about 10 minutes before it went away, but it was enough to wake me from a sound sleep and keep me from falling back asleep. Just start dozing at 3AM and the little beast starts it again... and doesn't stop. After half an hour I throw on some pants and go next door, ring the doorbell, which I hate having to do at 3:30 but gently caress me. I honestly thought the neighbors were gone because I couldn't imagine them sleeping through it it but the guy comes to the door all bleary eyed and asks me what's going on. I tell him his dog has been going bananas for the last half hour between our houses. He says no way, his dogs are all there. I reply "Look, I don't know which loving dog it is, but it's in your yard." He looks around, oh, gently caress, it's XXXX, I must have left her out. I'm sorry man." I go away, head back to bed, see 5AM on the clock so fall asleep after that. 7AM comes and I need to get up to start for the arrival of my poo poo. Ugh

It's possible and Canadians have the same potential hurdle going the other way. 90% chance you won't have a problem but it's certainly a possibility. My dad had a DUI and crossed repeatedly no problems but on the other hand I know of people that have been turned away.

Do i seriously have to go through a million hoops? http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/inadmissibility/conviction.asp There is a reasonable chance that a 15 year DUI would be "deemed rehabilitated" at the border, but if you're planning now, you may not want to risk it. My understanding is that for a 15 year old DUI with no other offenses, an automatic rehabilitation is practically automatic; however, it will take time. I dunno how long. slidebite posted:It's possible and Canadians have the same potential hurdle going the other way. 90% chance you won't have a problem but it's certainly a possibility. Applebees Appetizer posted:What is it with Canada and car theft? Sounds like a loving epidemic up there Canada AI goons are over-represented by Albertans from what I can tell, and here we have a preponderance of high-value immobilizerless Super Duties which you can steal in minutes using techniques that don't even work on mid-90s Civics. Also, if you visit any Tim Hortons you can find at least one moron idling their unlocked pickup truck in the lot while they run in for a donut. The local cops make a huge stink about how dangerous it is to have a fent addict driving a 4800lb+ lifted truck around traffic trying to outrun the cops, but they also are largely incapable of actually investigating or arresting serial criminals and our underfunded court system can't knock together a trial fast enough to put them away. Property crime generally takes a backseat because there's more pressing matters for the cops to deal with, including a recent spate of bizarre serial murders and the huge increase in domestic violence and drug trafficking from the economic bust. Car theft is the least interesting form of property crime so it receives an even lower priority, when cops could be investigating a home invasion, B&E or store robbery. Powershift lives in Central Alberta, which is sort of like the flyover country of Alberta. Lots of roughnecks, general scabs, etc who don't have steady jobs and came here for the oil work and stayed for the drug habits. They also have the bonus of a virtually nonexistent local police force, and have kicked up to the feds for help that hasn't come. Most other provinces in Canada are economic failures, and Alberta was a pretty good beacon for decades that if you were a high school dropout we could give you six figures and a heroin addiction. The RCMP are stretched to their limit trying to investigate property crimes thanks in part to an ambitious rural a few years ago who decided he wanted to shoot some cops, so now they show up en masse for even the smallest poo poo because it could pop off into a libertarian standoff. Most of the time they don't lift a finger unless they have absolute certainty that they're going to get a few collars and their photos in the paper, and even then the people arrested are sitting around on bail for months/years until their trial. On top of that, deployment numbers for most of Alberta haven't been revised in decades, so you have situations like a small town that now has an enormous megamall and 10,000 more people but still only has two Mounties. It's not like they don't know about the rural properties that have 30+ Super Duties and skid steers sitting in plain view, it's that there aren't enough hours in the day. Basically like every other job on the planet, you have to focus on what you can do instead of what you can't. The RCMP also have significant oversight and management problems due to their unique nature as an organization, but that's a whole other topic and the canpol thread will happily debate it with you all day long if you're interested. People compare Alberta to Texas, but it's more like Montana. We're still trying to solve 4 million people's problems with 0.25 million people's budget, and the prolonged bust in oil prices has only put more strain on every mechanism, especially when we choose to use police resources as social workers. Things are not great because we've taken the easy route for the last five decades and it's catching up. Seat Safety Switch fucked around with this message at 18:11 on Aug 12, 2017 |

I have seen co workers turned around at the airport for having a DUI on their record. If you really want to go you may want to call the Canadian border services and get a criminal rehabilitation or temporary resident permit. If you are denied at the border, whatever you do, don't try again until you contact a lawyer up there and have it straightened out. My Father has a permanent ban for not doing that. Also don't even try to lie to them, they can search the FBI database and see if you have even been so much as arrested. Personally I have a nexus card but even with that they sometimes ask questions. Not like when I was a kid and all you needed was a birth certificate and the only questions were nationality and anything to declare.

Hm, kinda sounds like the issue we're having here with juveniles stealing cars. Since they're not adults they get a slap on the wrist, and just the other day a bunch of kids got killed racing stolen cars. Apparently they're trying to change the laws to deter these little assholes, but who knows if that will ever happen.

Met an interesting guy today. Old chap pulled up outside my house to fix his trailer. Lighting board had come adrift, so I gave him a hand with a cable tie getting it reattached. We had a bit of a chat, and it turns out that he also used to work in engineering, making aerospace bits, but as a hobby he built his own radial engines: It uses VW pistons and barrels, plus he also used parts from old DAFs (the cars, not trucks). This is it running in his back garden (you can just about make out the prop tracing an arc in the top left corner), tethered to a big tree to stop it escaping. This is a later 7-cylinder engine he made, in a home-built plane. Another plane he built, this one powered by a VW flat 4. Couple of youtube videos, also showing an electric starter ststem be built: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyRTuggI1oY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cYV_-Q-To0 He showed me a magazine with an article on his engine, the Webster Whirlwind. Today's Pilot, December 2008, if anyone happens to see a copy anywhere. Old guy was properly , but still flying.
