Dumb question: Does anyone NOT believe Russia interfered to get Trump elected? Not that they were WRONG to do it because America is special (lol) or 'it doesn't matter because even impeaching Trump won't matter, it'll just give us Pence' or anything, just... did they? Because I see absolutely no way this whole thing ISN'T the case. Whether it was through pushing fake news (definitely did it), hacking machines (don't think they did that one), hacking voter rolls to disenroll Dems (they definitely did this one), hacking the Dems to make them look bad (lol definitely did but the Dems don't ever need help looking incompetent), or any/all of the above. I know the Chapo boys don't believe it, but I don't quite understand why.

I understand the CTH position to be that Russia probably did try to interfere in the election, and it might have swung things by a fraction of a percent. It's not so much that the Russia thing matters, it's that Trump could have won without them if he were even a tiny bit smarter or luckier--and that most of the worst parts of Trump are just things any Republican president would do. Like, the fact that Russia tried to get Donald fucken Trump elected president is unimportant next to the fact that a huge chunk of the US obliged them.

Is pushing 'fake news'a thing? I think most here and the dry boys agree that news coverage isn't substantially different. it's always been the wrong questions, or concerns, so as to push viewpoints that are not helpful or humane.

Using stolen voter rolls to target voters in specific states with a deluge of bullshit 'news' that is fake is, indeed, a thing. It's what they did, specifically, to blacks in Michigan that suppressed at least a microscopic amount of votes.

There's also decent evidence of Russian botnets suddenly blasting a certain hashtag on Twitter to get MAGA heads to think it's an actual thing then they pick it up from there. They influenced the people, not the election, is a more apt way to phrase it

RE Patton Oswald: You don't have to 100% agree with a podcast's politics to listen to and enjoy it. I listen to Pod Save America on occasion even though my politics are way closer to the dry boys. This might hurt some people's egos, but there's plenty of common ground to be found between Chapo and the normies.

I hope CTH will have something to say about the Nazi rally happening 25 miles from my house today. I don't know what to say. Despite the efforts of the mayor and vice mayor it seems that local, state, and federal government apparatus is essentially aiding this rally. I'm not using the term "alt-right" anymore. People screaming "Sieg Heil" and "Blood and soil" are neo-Nazis.

We can chew gum (interfering in the democratic process is bad, be it a foreign actor or a domestic actor doing stuff like voter suppression) and walk (UBI done right, UHC, etc.) at the same time.
