THE RESERVED LIST! THE RESERVED LIST! I CANNOT SHUT UP ABOUT THE RESERVED LIST!
To be fair, I have had friendships before with people who turned out to be unironic racists. In those cases I've become a lot cooler towards them but it doesn't mean the good times didn't happen.

In no case would I give them a prominent position with my hypothetical company though.

Leperflesh

I've had people I've known for decades suddenly reveal some really lovely racist opinion seemingly out of the blue. It's pretty easy to not know the politics of a long-time co-worker or even a friend, depending on the context of your conversations and relationship.

One of the things that is going on in America right now is kind of a revelation to the mainstream that the far-right is not nearly as fringe and tiny as we had imagined.

My feeling on the Pugh brothers is that they're somewhat on the libertarian side of things if anything, but mostly just care about running their company. Bryan's fairly left-wing, and this is exactly the sort of thing that pisses him off, but he's also only one person on their board. I know they've referenced the fact that there are a lot of different viewpoints among Reaper's staff, and generally they don't mind so long as no one does anything that hurts the company.

I think ultimately it's going to come down to whether or not the Pughs think Clark is worth keeping around from a financial standpoint. Clark's been with the company for years, and he's good at the rest of his job, so they might think that they'll lose less money by making a public reprimand and give him a warning than by replacing him. I think that's a mistake, but they tend to be very cautious when making changes with their company. We'll see what they do. I'm probably not going to drop my pledge over this, but I do think firing him would be the right choice.

It's complex and I'm honestly still trying to sort my feelings and opinion on the matter. You make some excellent points about their product being goodwill and the company running a public campaign and anything done in the public sphere affects that and hurts the company, so maybe in this case yeah, you're right this guy should get the ax. But what I'm really worried about is in four or five years when a guy posts some socialist meme and a bunch of vocal alt-right trolls cry foul and demand his head.

That last bit, that there, already happens. There are tons of businesses that will boot employees for being feminists, liberals, pro-choice, gay in states that don't protect, etc. There was one story about a woman who was fired for admitting to having been raped--away from the workplace entirely. At will employment does blow. The right-wingers are just meeting a taste of their own medicine as current heartless HR theory used by larger employers finds various kinds of bigotry to cause workplace inefficiencies, finds that workers with empathy have greater attention and understanding and that solving toxic workplace situations is expensive so they try to avoid having to deal with all that and just fire idiots with bad judgement. The Google guy basically fired off a fat memo that might as well been titled "Future Exhibit A in a Hostile Workplace Lawsuit" and so they ditched the liability, essentially. Reaper is a smaller company and might choose to value their personal relationships over the threat of future liability while still reprimanding the dude. I won't say I agree with that, but at least they realized and admitted there was a problem pretty fast versus say White Wolf's "we decided he's an okay guy" stance.

That said: more or less what Leperflesh said; people are making pretty rational choices about whether or not to cancel their pledges. I reduced mine to $1 because I'm kinda short on money anyway, and I'm likely to just pick and choose some add-ons.

So how exactly does this kickstarter work? How long can I wait to get into the KS and pick all the pieces I want? What are the donation tiers? Can you buy individual pieces or do you have to buy the whole "set"?

Peas and Rice

Honor and profit.
You need to get into one of the shipping tiers, which really just affects when you get your poo poo. I was in tier 4 last time and I got it a month or so after the first people in this thread got their stuff. YMMV.

Anything you pledge on KS migrates over to Reaper's manager - so if you pledge $200, you get $200 in credit to spend however you want. The core set is always $100 and they're adding more figs to it all the time, so it becomes a better and better value as things unlock.

It's a good idea to pledge what you can afford for what you want, because it increases the overall amount and unlocks more stuff for everyone. So if you want a core set and baba's hut, pledge $120.

If you decide once everything's done to add more poo poo, the pledge manager charges you at that time so you can always toss in a $20 dragon later.

Usually they break up the core set later in the pledge manager, where groups of figs are $2-$3 or so.

Hope that helps.

Also worth noting that whatever pledge you select on the Kickstarter doesn't lock you in entirely, so if you pledge $100 for the core set, after the kickstarter is done and you are completing your pledge, you can distribute that to a bunch of add-ons instead.

You have another 16 days until the project ends, at which point you need to have either backed at $1, or at $100, on the kickstarter page. and that money is then paid immediately on the project ending. Further down the page you'll see a link to the pledge manager. This is where you select which bits and pieces you actually want, and it will remain open for you to chop, change, add, or subtract until July 2018, at which point you will need to finalise your order, and pay any additional costs over the top of the $1 or $100 you initially backed with.

The starter set will be broken into smaller units for smaller add ons in the pledge manager, but the two expansions won't.

Let's do the space-time warp again!

Well, Bones 3 launched in July 2015. and US shipping was complete in June 2017 (geeze, was it really that long? drat). I believe that most of the elements of that are now going up for retail.

So getting in on the kickstarter only gets you your stuff slightly faster than retail (maybe not even much if you're outside the US). The main advantage is that you get it cheaper.

The starter set will be broken into smaller units for smaller add ons in the pledge manager, but the two expansions won't.

Just to be even clearer:

When you pledge, you join the kickstarter as a backer, and you pick one of the two available pledge tiers, which are the $1 tier and the $100 tier.

At that time, and at any time before the end of the kickstarter, you can add additional dollars to your pledge regardless of which tier you picked. At the end of the kickstarter, your account/card/whatever will be charged the dollar amount of your pledge.

Later, you can use the Pledge Manager to also add more dollars to your spend. You can't use the Pledge Manager to reduce your spend from what you locked in at the end of the kickstarter itself (unless you have some grounds to request a refund or something).

So, during the kickstarter, let's say you decide you want $143 of stuff. You could:
A) Pledge at the $1 tier, and add on $142 more to your pledge
B) Pledge at the $100 tier, and add on $42 more to your pledge

These are functionally identical, because in the Pledge Manager, you'll have exactly the same options to pick from with your $142. Let's suppose that after the Pledge Manager opens up, you decide you want to add another $50: you could do so again regardless of what your pledge tier had been.

Because of this arrangement, when picking which tier you want, you should A) not pick a tier that is more money than you definitely want to spend (so if you're not sure you want to spend at least $100, you should pick the $1 tier): and then, if you're still picking between two tiers, B) pick the tier that has the best Wave.

So right now at this second, if you're in the North/Central/South America region, the best $1 tier available is Wave 8, and the best $100 tier available is Wave 10. So Anyone in North/Central/South America pledging right now should be picking the $1 tier regardless! You can add as much cash as you want to your $1 pledge, and you can use it to purchase $100 Core sets, too. There's no reason to take a Wave 10 shipment date when you can get Wave 8 instead.

I think maybe you could make it fit with a different base, maybe a little higher in the air to keep the tail out of the way of rear charges. Depends how big that chunk of rock is, you might be able to trim it down to fit on a 50x100 base and then just deal with the overhang if and when it gets in the way.

My guess is that they decided not to do anything other force him to apologize and separate his social media accounts from Reaper so that he can continue to be a dickhead in his private life without associating his opinions with Reaper. They're almost certainly not going to do anything like donate to a relief fund for victims of the Nazi attack or put this guy in charge of community outreach programs.

In other words, it's been swept under the rug.

They certainly aren't engaging with people on social media about it beyond the initial apology.

I will probably buy Reaper miniatures in the future since they're the largest company that does what they do with consistent quality in the product, but I will treat them like I do any other corporate entity and buy at retail. I won't be participating in their community projects because the public face they showed wasn't one I want to engage with.
