Would you rather have five more inches in height or five more inches in dick

Or if you could distribute it between the two how would you do it.

Hmmm this sounds like an interesting survey question

What I get from all this is that by consensus Cousins is somewhere between the 14th and 20th best player in the league, and would I trade the overall number one pick for the 14-20th best player in the league, who I would have to pay $35 million a year for a full contract run but who is just entering his prime? It's pretty close. I would lean no.

Yeah that's about the line where I would be questioning it. Anyone better is an obvious yes, anyone worse is an obvious no. For a Cousins range guy I think it depends on if you can realistically guarantee another star beside him. If you're the Celtics last year you should have done it, if you're the Sixers the year before you shouldn't.

I think George is overrated because he passes the eye test hard. He LOOKS like a perfect basketball player, he dunks like a beast, has a beautiful jumper, etc. But he's never actually produced at a super elite level. Like for example, since he came back from his injury he's played two whole seasons and he was 25th in WS in those two seasons. Now that's hardly the be all end all of measurements for a whole bunch of reasons but the next lowest person on Dokmo's list is Jokic (24th) who played 1800 fewer minutes, then Davis at 20th who played 650 fewer...but then Cousins is actually much lower than that even, 44th with 800 fewer minutes.

I think Paul George is really cool (much like I've said about John Wall) but the numbers don't back up his appearance. I think he's a lot better than Wall, and I actually think Metapod is going to be vindicated and he's going to look great this year because Russ is the ideal guy to put next to him. He doesn't get to the line a lot, his most elite skills are one on one d, switching, and shooting off of screens.

They already have crazy depth. IT3/Rose - Smith/Korver/Shump - James/Crowder/Jefferson - Love/Green - Thompson/Frye. They can run small ball, pick and rolls, iso's, 3 point barrages and inside scoring. Plus they still have all that rebounding and passing even with IT3 or Rose on the floor.

Something tells me they'll be moving some of those guys for Wade though. I don't think they even need IT3.

Buff men and Celtics watchers of SAS, how many positions can Crowder defend? He's a little on the small side and known as a defensive specialist, just wondering how realistic it is for him to play at the 2 in a lineup next to Lebron/Love/Thompson. Can he guard Klay Thompson and other dudes running through a series of screens? Can he keep up with a short, shooty, Dion Waiters type guy with no strong presence behind him at the rim? I'm guessing he won't start, but just wondering if lineups of this mold are possible. TIA

Like Dexo said, he's 2-4 in terms of defense. He's strong and athletic and now that he doesn't have to guard Lebron there's no major caveats to his defensive versatility. He's going to be fantastic for the Cavs

I'll second this. Crowder is going to give the Cavs a lot of lineup versatility, as someone pointed out above, and that IT2, JR, Crowder, LeBron, Love lineup is something that could theoretically match up against the Warriors small ball.

Danny Ainge isn't a total fool because he traded the mediocre Avery Bradley for the great Marcus Morris who unlike Jae Crowdirt can actually guard Lebron Jame

But Jae is a completely fine role player on a very good corn tract and that's fine

I don't think it is. Kyrie's just plain better than Isaiah and the rest of those pieces probably wouldn't get them a championship. The Brooklyn pick isn't a guaranteed #1, and a #1 pick isn't a guaranteed all star. Jae Crowder was valuable but he's a supporting piece and was blocking Tatum and Brown playing time. Zizic is just whatever.

Celtics now have a pretty decent team with a bright future. The main downside is that the Butler trade was so one sided that it seemed like the Celtics could have gotten a different player than Kyrie for cheaper.

Depends on IT's hip and what the pick is.

I'm a critic because of the defense, but it's a wash + Kyrie is younger and is on a better contract than what an IT will demand if he's healthy.

On the subject of health, the dark horse reason why Ainge might have overpaid is if Kyrie's knee is an issue down the road.

The trade makes a lot more sense from Boston's perspective if you remember that Ainge has been acting like IT has cooties for a year and has been desperate to avoid having to sign him to a big long-term deal next offseason, originally because he was short and now also because of the injury.
