Parking was pretty good all over summer and I ForgotTM. Doesn't help though that they keep adding new buildings without adequately expanding parking first. Also they're now blocking off entrances to garages as soon as capacity bumps up to 100% for the first time, even as there's long streams of cars leaving due to classes changing. So instead of being able to go in and bet on someone leaving so you can gank their spot, absolutely everyone gets funneled to the remaining garages. I'm just feeling bad and need to vent, that's all.

Seriously, seeing a totality with the naked eye is something completely different than a partial eclipse through glasses. It was absolutely unbelievable and I am so glad we did it. One more thing to cross off of our bucket list. One of the benefits of approaching the Idaho desert via Montana is that it's relatively lightly populated, with most of the population (Salt Lake are and points further south) coming in from that side. I15 south of Butte was a little busy on the way down, hitting Dubois, ID it turned into a poo poo show (but still somehow lucked out and drove right to the gas pump to fill up). Ended up just going off on our own into the middle of nowhere and turned down a gravel road skirting the Idaho National Labs and parked. Only a couple other cars around us within a mile or so, pretty much 100% on our own and we were within a mile or so of the absolute max duration for the area. Only during totality could we hear anyone else in the distance with some cheering and hollering. After totality, traffic was crazy once we made it back to the interstate for the first hour but started to thin out as we approached Butte. After that, it was completely normal, almost light traffic. Got through the border within 3 minutes which surprised the hell out of me because the Canadian cars on the interstate were unreal.

My workplace went through a huge new buildings program where they were slamming new building on top of what used to be staff parking. Which then pissed off the staff as they had to either park in student areas (and considering the staff parking pass is double the price of the student pass) or having to park off site and use a shuttle bus service. Thankfully for the latest building they have put in a four level underground car park underneath it.

One more thing to cross off of our bucket list. I was invited to a totality party at a ranch in Liberty, SC. I26 was already a parking lot at 6am, F that. I watched it from here. I'll catch the next totality in 2024 at my parents' place in VT. I'm kind of stoked to have taken shots of a 'full' (99.679%) eclipse from my new house the first year I lived here. I got to make this too: https://vimeo.com/230851319

Just took a nice drive and spotted this on the side of the road - stick, 93k miles, asking $30K. Worth it?

For that price I wonder if its been salvaged, or if its really a 4.

Definitely says 30k - I'll give them a call tomorrow. If it's a clean title, I'll drive it for a year, detail it and make ~10k or at least EASILY break even.

I just got back in touch with a buddy that bought a '93 RS America in the late '90s. He paid $40k for it, which was a lot then. He just had it appraised at $150k. Pretty good roi on something he tracks.
