That thread made me realize that it's been at least 8 years since the Shabondy arc, geez.

I watch these press releases for the One Piece live shows they do for like children and I noticed they've created a bodyguard for Buggy the Clown named Puggy http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2017/08/27-1/tokyo-one-piece-towers-halloween-festival-begins-on-september-16 http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Puggy Also it's really interesting to me how quick marketing can bring in stuff like Buggy's new costume he wore in two pages and deem it important enough for a 30 minute stage show

Baratie Arc was good because it established what the standard of what 'good' Shounen is. Can't judge it with other One Piece arcs; Oda has been so consistent with ranging from 'great' to 'phenomenal' it seems relatively tame in comparison.

i think one piece has set the bar for ongoing plot in a shounen series, but that really was not apparent until around the end of skypeia

HxH has been on hiatus more than it has not, someone did the math.

Would you rather live in a world where HxH was the consistent manga and One Piece was always on hiatus or vice versa? We'd be on the train to Enis Lobby in this alternate world and Kurapika would probably be dead already.

I think Pudding’s move with the homies is going to end up being the most important part of this chapter since it establishes that souls can contain memories that the mind doesn’t. It seems pretty obvious now that the Strawhats’ conflict with Big Mom is going to end on Elbaf but I couldn’t figure out why she would be there. If she was going to try and conquer the place should would have done so decades ago. Instead, she’s been treating it with kid gloves, most likely due to her fond childhood memories of the place and her belief that she could eventually make them like her again. But what if Pudding awakens Big Mom’s soul’s (or, if we want to get really crazy, Mother Caramel’s) memories of the night she burned down the village and the moment where she ate Mother Caramel? It wouldn’t have to be intentional; I doubt Pudding knew exactly what memories her attack was going to dredge up in the homies. Knowing that the Giants will never be able to forgive her and never let her back in would likely drive Big Mom to invade the country because she’s an enormous womanchild who can’t let things go.

OP feels a lot more cohesive than HxH to me. Each arc in HxH feels like a standalone series that's only tangentially related to the overall plot, not that it's a bad thing. But what do I know, I thought the Chimera Ants arc was the best HxH ever was.
