i need to get something repaired/serviced and went to the manufacturers website where they have a "service request" form, first attempt filling it out did nothing on clicking "send" so I looked at what it was doing on submit and it's trying to submit your details (name, email, phone number) to a php ajax handler hosted on wordpress over plain http, superb.

i don't work at a hard drive company so don't quote me but hard drives might be built tough to contain a failure in a part that spins at 5200-10000 rpm

hard drives are weird; one the one hand i've had some brand new enterprise ones fail because gently caress you, that's why, but i've also dropped a couple by accident in a stairwell and the cases were a bit banged up but they were happy to run well past their mbtf
