What ever happened to "crazy"? It's my understand to get diagnosed as trans you have to go to all sorts of therapy. That makes sense to me. It's a physiological and psychosocial condition that can be treated through various combinations of therapy, drugs and, if necessary, surgery. Start with therapy then go from there.

In my (admittedly anecdotal) experience genderqueer people don't do any of that. They just decided one day that they were special and could see through the matrix. They're just privileged tourists (invariably in bog standard heterosexual relationships) that feel they should have access to gay culture without actually being gay. At best, you've got an androgynous bisexual. More often, you've got someone who will try to redirect every issue back to themselves when they aren't affected by the structural problems anyway.

That more general objection aside, in this particular person's case they have got all kinds of crazy going on, the latest manifestation being "genderqueer". I get that one doesn't get to choose one's allies and compatriots and I get that trans and trans-related issues have a lot of co-morbid disorders but I still think there ought be some level of gatekeeping. *Long, deep, guttural sight of annoyance*

So hi, Real Trans woman here who actually lives this.

1: The Trans community in general has accepted that any kind of conformation from a medical professional that someone is transgender is straight up bullshit. That's not to say getting mental help is bad, far from it. But usually, a lot of medical services trans people need to transition safely are walled off until multiple people give the OK. Today, If you seriously think that the gender you feel you are is different than what is says between your legs, you are trans. With or without any kind of medical treatment.

2: Anyone who does not conform to accepted physical traits of either male or female does face social consequences. Regardless if they ID as Genderqueer or no. This is why "Genderqueer" Needs to be IDed as a valid Gender ID.

So unless you actually are Trans, please stop.

Edit: If there are any actual Genderqueer people here, feel free to step in.

Why do you want to operate under an assumption they someone expressing a non cis gender identity is crazy? Why should a person have to prove their internal truth to you?

Please understand the level privilege you have on not having to justify your literal existence to people just to be treated as yourself.

The Daily Beast had an article today about LifeZette, which is Laura Ingraham's answer to HuffPo.

It's another example of right wing figures trying to make "Right-Wing Version of Thing" and having it be terrible.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/the-ceo-of-laura-ingrahams-lifezette-wont-stop-talking-about-his-employees-boobs-and-butts

quote:

Traffic to the site—billed as the right’s answer to the massive Huffington Post when it was founded in 2015—is minuscule, with an average of little more than 10,000 unique visitors per day in July, according to data from ComScore. LifeZette is also the target of a labor complaint aimed at its payroll practices from a former employee who says paychecks came sporadically and with little official documentation, according to documents provided to The Daily Beast.

Most seriously, according to seven sources currently and formerly employed by LifeZette, the organization has become a deeply uncomfortable place for women to work, with a top company official repeatedly making sexually suggestive comments about female employees—sometimes within earshot of those female staffers.

Byron Martinez, LifeZette’s former broadcast engineer and IT administrator, recalled Peter Anthony, the site’s chief executive “talking about other women’s boobs, butts… how he would desire sexual activities with [female colleagues] and stuff like that… All kinds of inappropriate talk about women in the office.”

Six other sources also singled out Anthony by name as the chief culprit. Anthony, a longtime friend and business partner of Ingraham’s, co-founded the D.C.-based site with her and oversees its day-to-day operations.

For some reason, all of these projects appear to just be scams run by creeplord grifters.

I wonder why that is. :thunk:

I was asked to stop, but I want to clarify this since it is a very nasty misunderstanding.

The specific person I am talking about it clearly crazy. They are a liar, a thief, a cheat who has full on psychotic episodes and self-mediates in a variety of illicit ways. To top it off, they are also a literal child molester. I mentioned all of those things.

That's distinct from genderqueer existing as a thing. In this particular person's case, I have no reason to assume they are acting in good faith. I'll respect their presentation because I'm trying very hard not to be an rear end in a top hat. But that doesn't mean I think they are acting in good faith in any capacity.

Specifics are not generalities.

It was part of those tapes that Alex Jones released of his phone conversations with her. He complained to her that she had done an "unfair" and "inaccurate" story on him on Fox News and she had this aside about how she was blown away at how much better the vetting and research at NBC was and how there was a legal department that prevented you from just saying untrue stuff. It was kind of missed in the big picture but it was a hilarious indictment of Fox News and Kelly as a "journalist" that she seemed surprised by the idea of "fact checking" or vetting.

That makes me feel bad for them. Even if they are bootlicker scum.

I had moved to a new territory and went to the local office because they had reliable internet. Been going in semi-regularly for a month, it's good to have a home office, you know? Get to know people, whatever.

I had been meeting with clients, so I walk in mid-afternoonish (in retrospect, using the office this way may have been insensitive since most people only saw me rolling in at the crack of 3 to go into my office and send some e-mails) and did my normal happy-go-lucky "Hello!" The receptionist was normally dour because she was going through a divorce and those are never fun so I had been working on killing her with kindness. It's hard to hate somebody who is smiling at you! But she just breaks down and says, "Haven't you heard, they are letting us all go!" They had that day to vacate the building.

The place was loving wrecked. If anybody reading this is in acquisitions, firing everybody at the same time by e-mail and then expecting the newly fired managers to help escort people off-site is not something that is going to work well.
