Hey guys, I got behind on this thread and haven't read it in a while so I don't remember... Is "Inside Star Trek" the book that talks about Gene being all coked up and a lech? I'm at a thrift store and want to spend my $1 wisely.

The episode with the backstory about Seven's parents is basically just the lovely Star Trek version of the documentary Grizzly Man, years before that came out.

Gene Roddenberry: The Myth and the Man Behind "Star Trek" by Joel Engel is the one that really dives into how hosed up and scummy Gene Roddenberry could be.

What would Captain Janeelix have done? Would they have been really enthusiastic about getting back home faster than Janeway or would they just expand her brutal arbitrary enforcement of rules to include Leola root stews for every meal?

I still think it's funny that when Neelix visits his own subconscious after dealing with being dead (and experiencing nothing) for 19 hours, instead of anything profound or self-enlightening his own subconscious self pretty much tells him "Kill yourself. Do it, you pussy."

I started out not liking The Fight. Though it really turned around. The surreal editing was really good and watching Picardo go over the top is always fun. Next episode is the one with Jason Alexander. So that should be fun too.

The General posted:I started out not liking The Fight. Though it really turned around. The surreal editing was really good and watching Picardo go over the top is always fun. The problem is an episode like The Fight really needs to be in service of a larger story arc, and with Voyager's " WE MUST SYNDICATE!" lack of continuity it just winds up a wretched mess that goes nowhere. I'm also pretty sure the planning draft is just "Boxing? BOXING!" on a napkin. Think Tank is insultingly dumb, but Jason Alexander is delightfully smug through it with his performance and well worth watching for that.
