The issue is that part of the dynamics that actually allow a snowmobile to ride on water are the hydroplaning effect provided by the skis. Just dropping you straight into the water with no pre-existing forward momentum means you drop like a rock.

Competition deadlifts look like poo poo a lot of the time because even though it's horrible for your body, because many professional powerlifters can pull more weight with a rounded back.
