Having been with the series that entire 10 years, I might have teared up a little! Man tears though, so it's cool.

I still have my release day Wiedźmin bag (wish I knew where, though).

That very day was in a lot of ways a turning point in my life (coincidentally). Hard to think it's been a decade.

I wish you could have duplicates of that painting. Nothing says more about the self-confidence of a man by having paintings of himself in every room in his house.

e: now that i think about it, you could probably do that by adding the paintings to your inventory to the console. Someone do that.

In addition they did a huge Q&A with the design team about the whole series. By far the best part is regarding a bug that would crash the entire game if you chose a certain dialogue option with Triss in Witcher 2...it wasn't discovered for 6 weeks though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWFWaojU4mA&t=3380s

The 10th Anniversary Witcher video is pretty great
Some real passion from some cool game devs that made some great games

Im really looking forward to whatever they do next (Cyberpunk, right?)

E: EA tried to buy them out early on and they said no. They've been on the verge of bankruptcy before. Today if you ask anyone what "goty all years" is you are drat sure Witcher 3 is on that loving list. A lot of times games will be about whatever scummy thing Ubi or EA did or DLC price gouging or whatever, and this was just a really touching cool video just to say "hey man, you rock"

They were pretty cagey about answering certain questions in the Q&A. For example they explained that Iorveth's content was cut in Witcher 3 because they just couldn't make it fit well in the story and didn't want to deliver a sub-par game or character experience. They were quite pointed in refusing to comment on what specific role he was originally going to play in the quest. I'm going to choose to interpret that as evidence that Iorveth's story isn't done yet.

I decided to give Witcher 1 another go because I felt kinda bad for never getting more than an hour into the game. Welp, game's still janky as gently caress and somehow runs worse on my computer than Witcher 3 does (well, not all the time, but it still tends to drop to the low 50s when there's a lot of stuff on the screen), but at least I've made it past the tutorial this time and I think I might even be able to get somewhere in the main quest.

That escort mission sidequest in the Outskirts, though. You know the one. :gonk:

It's a PC game man, just spam quicksaves and reload if she dies. Also IIRC Barghests can easily be defeated with Aard.

Finally beat the main quest, dope as hell.

Kinda bummed out that in my end game Radovid's still the king and still going around burning people. I was a little confused that the assassination plans for Radovid never went anywhere and that I never heard about it again after doing the mission where you find Thaler. Then I looked it up and apparently the mission where you assassinate him never triggers if you push Djikstra out of the way while nabbing Philippa. Oopsie.

That's uh, one of the more understated dialog choices. I think you select it as [push him out of the way] or something like that. Then you punch him in the face and snap his leg instead. I enjoyed it, but uh, didn't quite expect that. Or think it would lead to dwarf genocide.

What would anyone even get upset about this video game about? I guess dumb tacked on durability and weight mechanics, POIs, but no where near annoying enough. The worst you could say about the combat is that you can swing at the air a lot if the wrong animation plays and you didn't dodge into range earlier.

It really is a good game by a good company.
