Count me in for liking the eggs, or rather a system that alerts us ahead of time about upcoming raids and gives a tighter time window to organize around.

Likewise. I absolutely hated walking to a gym, which was clear for raids when I leave the house, only to have a raid start when I arrive.

Plus, nerds will always congregate to a raid for their somewhat-high IV pokemon, even if the window is 1 hour, 30 minutes, or 5 hours.

It's not a problem now since level 5 eggs can only hatch one thing, but I really hope eggs show what will hatch in the future.

2 hours to notify, coordinate and gather a raid group is so much better than an hour. Plus I won't get locked out of a gym I was about to slot in :arghfist:

I don't mind the eggs, especially because you don't get locked out of gym battling anymore, and I like the idea of being able to show up early, take the gym down and control the gym prior to the raid. That's a nice little bonus. 1:1 timer ratio is unnecessary though. 30 minute egg with 90 minute battle window would be a lot better.

I must have gotten lucky, every time I show up to a raid (minus when they first started) people have jumped out to let me join. In the raid trains I'm in, it's kinda a rule that unless you're in the red of beating the boss, jump out to let a straggler in. Of course if we are at max, nope. gently caress, we once spent 4 jumps because one dude couldn't get in without a crash, and we only went in after the 6th try.

Network-provided time can be inaccurate, the best shot is to grab it from a NIST or Google NTP server.

That's how people are here, too. I was worried it would stop abruptly when the map stopped being free. It stopped because people running it didn't even get half the costs in donations for August, so starting early September it's now tenbux a month. Because admins have five kids, one with a live-in girlfriend, and can't afford to cover half or more. It sucks but I don't blame them.

Anyway, I was worried that people were only doing that because the Discord rules said to do it, and that they were only following Discord rules to get map access. There is another map but it's not nearly as good. I've been pleasantly surprised. Although the Discord does still have free webhooks calling out raids, so maybe they're behaving for that. I dunno.

There have been several times where we backed out because someone was running up, and then backed out because my kid's phone wasn't working, and then again for another reason. It doesn't matter since raid passes continually apply, and we're all loving downing in potions. People tend to stand around and joke, too. I like it.

I've been having issues with being booted out of raids, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I think it was related to the clock sync, but it was awakard to be with a group of strangers, get ready, then get booted as the raid started. I dunno if they've patched it, I haven't done a raid in a while.

I've been getting seven day streaks since they patched them in, and the game will. not. give. me. a. king's. rock.

I get ALL the other items, but not a king's rock. I just need two and the game just gives me more and more of what I don't. Is it just the RNG, or am I overlooking something?

I've got 4 King's rocks and nowhere near a need for them at this point. I have at least two of the rest of the add-on baubles at this point too.

Made it to level 23 this weekend and gained two Raikou in the process. Something I feel like I'm noticing but perhaps it's just my head wanting to provide an explanation; it seems as if the first players to join the raid are the ones that will catch it afterwards. This is based on a VERY loose sampling over a half dozen raids now it seems the people who are missing are the last to join into the raid party.

I'm going to go enjoy a nice slab of red herring and some food for thought.

There might be a correlation between latecomers being stressed out and therefore having a harder time catching it, but it's nowhere near conclusive.

Yeah, Suicune got seriously dunked on by the way stats got translated into the game. It could use a revamp to correct awkward situations like this.

Also how does the evolution thing work? Should I max out it's first evolution CP value before evolving it, or is there a different min max way to get the best possible result?

Also, thanks once again for the iv calculator info, it's really helped me sort out my stuff.

Unless you're drowning in millions of dust, I would push that Geodude/golem to lv 30 and call it a day. It doesn't matter now if you evolve/power up first because of TMs. Before TMs you would want to evolve first and see if you got the ideal moveset before dumping dust.

This is assuming you are in the America's and taking on raikous and don't have rhydons to play with. If you are in other regions, I'd wait till raikou rotates.

Willsun

Looks like a good one to power up. It's up to you whether or not you wanna be OCD about getting the highest possible Geodude/Golem IVs. I have a personal tier for things I'd find acceptable, like really common trash I'd want 95% or higher to keep, worthwhile fighters I'd want above 90%, and legendaries or rarer Pokemon you don't get often I'd take above 85%.

There is no "better result" whether you wait to power up its CP with stardust before or after evolving. It will all be the same. It used to be that everyone waited until after evolving to decide putting stardust into it because you didn't know what moves you were gonna get and we couldn't change them because TMs didn't exist yet. Like if you had a really high IV Pokemon, evolved it, and it turned out to have lovely moves, then you wouldn't waste putting stardust into it. But nowadays if you raid enough legendaries or bigger bosses, you'll usually have a few TMs to change a bad move or two.

Anyway, now that TMs exist, feel free to power it up with stardust before or after you evolve. It all comes out to be the same.

Hmm, good advice. However, I have yet to be able to participate in a legendary raid with any chance of actually doing anything.

I got into one, but it went nowhere, as my 'mons weren't powerful enough, and I haven't been able to find another one anywhere with any people at it (a legendary raid appeared at the gym next to my house, but no one ever turned up, etc).

So I was gonna spend my 109k of dust pumping up what I could, to see how far I could get in my own, and maybe be able to do regular gyms faster and more efficiently.

I've not got any tms at all, and I assume I'll dust and evolve, and whenever I get any (if ever) I'll just deal with that then.

Edit: did I get a good set of moves?

You're not at the last evolution stage so the moves don't matter much for now. But if you are taking this to a raid, the legendary birds are weak to rock type moves because they are flying so yes, this is good.

Was about to advise you to save your stardust for after you evolve all the way since you have no TMs but it's already too late it seems.

What you should do is focus on the following:
1) does your area have a Pokemon spawn map? if so, this makes getting specific pokes a ton easier
1b) if your area doesn't have a spawn map , you can still use silphroad.com Atlas for nests. these rotate every two weeks.
2) find a discord/FB group and meet up with people who can carry you in raids . this may not be possible

If you're that low level, your best route to being able to kill stuff is going to be getting shitloads of Eevees. Just evolve the highest level ones, not based on IV - save on stardust. 6 flareons should let you kill level 2 egg raids, and those guys are pretty beefy and good vs a lot of stuff. jolteons are good, vaporeons too. but in many places Eevees are tough to find and you're better off focusing on nests to get a ton of candy and hopefully high IV+level guys
