Strudel Man posted:What are you basing that on? This poll in 2016 found that 90% of native americans surveyed weren't bothered by the "redskins" name, consistent with another poll from 2004 and similar to yet another from 2002 that found about 80% of native americans were okay with it. Are results worth anything when they talk to 554 people out of a population of 5.4 million? Real question here, it just seems like a crazy small sample.

Better scream incoherently for two minutes and flail around wildly in circles, that'll help. All it would really take is for one of them to get into the tray and his day could get badly ruined. Wild pigs are nothing to gently caress with.

I guess my question is, is it white people claiming to be 1/16 Cherokee getting polled, or actual real life Native Americans

canyoneer posted:Minor league baseball team Peoria Chiefs kept the name but changed their logos from Native American imagery and their mascot is a dalmatian with a fireman hat. Apparently they also sell the foam Atlanta Braves tomahawks in the souvenir stand because they double as a fire axe. The Coachella high school has had a team called The Arabs since the 1930s. They had a vote on whether to change it after 9/11 but decided to keep it but in 2013 the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee went "Uh, can you not?" so in 2014 after a long drawn out process they reached a compromise where they kept the name but redesigned their logo to something less cartoonishly stereotyped. This video has some interviews and they really genuinely had no idea anyone might take offense to the caricature.
