Yeah they're a YouTube cdn so they basically just manage artists youtube presence and handle monetization of content and whatnot.

the key terms are "in the lab", aka "in vitro", and "in vevo", which is a play on "in vivo"

things you can do in a petri dish (in vitro) are often hard/impossible to repeat in living creatures (in vivo)

i don't think they have any of that content, their job is more like facilitating contracts between advertisers and youtube and issuing takedown notices. i could be wrong but i'd assume it's mostly emails w/ contracts

The hack said there was a couple dozen gigs or so of pre-release content but mostly internal mail server dumps and whatever

yeah i was thinking 3tb is too big to be just emails but they do a lot of negotiating with a lot of different agencies. i'm assuming most of it could be dozens of the same copy of a 500-page pdf with minor revisions

The ad issues thread in QCS is funny because the ads on this site are literal malware and yet people keep reporting the ads to 'help' some malicious ad network and some ad guy sometimes responds (this has been going on for years) instead of blocking the ads like a sane person.

just wipe your hard drive every 6 months. makes you properly dropbox/spideroak/git* everything important and keeps your poo poo clear of junk. i've got like 4 msys/mingw/cygwin/win-bash poo poo apps installed and they're impossible to remove. god now i want to wipe mine right now

windows workflow, but should be same-ish on linux or osx

:chome: stores its cookies in an sqlite db here:
%APPDATA%\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\

firefox here, not sure of the db flavor:
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

in whatever version of w7 ie i have right now, which i think is stored as a bunch of text files:
%APPDATA%\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Content.IE5

make a script that copies all the cookies (and whatever else you'd find neat to keep) from their live location to somewhere else, and another to overwrite them back. i forget how unhappy this will make the browsers (pretty sure chrome will throw a fit if you try to gently caress with a live db) so you might have to close stuff down between scripts. you can also make a bunch of different versions for different use cases and basically make a jukebox script to quickly load different states.
