Let's face it though. Conservatives proved back in '04 (probably earlier, but, I remember Kerry most easily) that voting D or disagreeing with them automatically nullifies your Military Infallibility and erases your service history.

It's not reporting on real events or even on a flawed interpretation of real events, it's a messaging strategy. This threat to football ratings isn't real, but it's very much in their interests to pretend that it is. Like, if you interact with football fans for a minute or two you will realize how frankly ridiculous the idea is that they'd give up football over blue lives mattering or whatever. I was at a game this weekend, and like twenty guys on my home team knelt for the anthem, and enough fans booed that I was actually uncomfortable being there, but then the game started, and everybody saw the football men run and catch the ball and knock over other football men, and all was forgiven and they cheered and chanted and high-fived each other and gave basically no shits about who knelt and who stood. Really, football fans need football players more than the players need us.
