shame on an IGA posted:The upper bound on the weight of that bucket is 215 lbs and that's assuming it contains a solid block of magnetite. Not even gonna start on the condition of the rope. That looks like a 5 gallon bucket? Assuming 4 gallons of solid metal, that's about 250lb for steel, 377 for lead, 450 for mercury ()

Concrete's 150pcf, or about 20 pounds per gallon. But don't worry, it's got a little core of neutronium weighing it down.

The friction of the rope going over the edge is going to add a lot to how much weight it can hold up, but my question is: how is he going to get down? That core shot rope probably isn't 100% either. e: Oh I just saw the tail of the rope dangling. I guess he better rappel pretty steadily or momentum is going to take care of that friction thing pretty quick.

I think that bucket is a bit bigger than it first appears, compare its size to the flower beds.

Well sure, but it's still only a 20L bucket. No matter what's in it, it's not going to be a proper substitute for a real anchoring system.

Some fresh OSHA from just north of me: a truck with a load too tall hit a bridge yesterday and did enough damage that they're going to have to demolish it! https://twitter.com/MDOT_A2/status/913160797328740353/photo/1 Video here: http://www.wxyz.com/news/semi-hits-overpass-in-brighton-township-forcing-i-96-freeway-closure RIP that trucker's insurance company.

I once looked at buying a house that had a shower and little changing room in an outbuilding, you could walk from your car to the shower before unlocking your house and entering through a different door. It was weird but I imagine it was for something similar. There was a nice proper bathroom inside too so it wasn't just a case of #britishplumbing

This happens about once a week where I'm from. AFAIK the city never even pursues damage against the truckers because it's all so poorly run.

Not sure where you're from, but there's a chance that your bridge in particular has some sort of guard in front of it, like the internet's favorite bridge, 11'8": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0BJmC6u7MU Keeps the bridge itself from getting damaged by stopping trucks moving slow enough, or ripping the tops off of trucks going to fast. That one, though, did some real damage to the bridge itself, and it shut down 2 highways for hours, with one of them likely for weeks, if not months. There's no way they're not pursuing damages on this one.
