I imagine she's also supposed to tie into the prehistoric Phoenix appearance 'cuz, you see, it's like poetry, it rhymes.

Oh, duh. Really enjoyed Spider-Man Generations. Miles meeting Ditko era Spider-Man, and just talking made a good bedtime read.

I really liked Legacy. Two points. So the Black Panther planet. A little odd but I will see where it goes. It reminds me of an idea I had which was Vibrinium ended up on Earth because a meteor of it landed on Earth and it is such a wünder metal that it makes the Wakandians a super power. But if it came from a meteor, that means there has to be a planet of it SOMEWHERE. And I figured that would make a good story. I guess this BP planet idea is this idea just extrapolated further. And the second point. So the Infinity stones. I took that they are separate and distinct items from the Infinity Gems. And they are ones that people knew about but never sought out before. And like are they supposed to be the same as the Gems? As powerful? More powerful? Less? Are they the cheap off brand knock offs of the Infinity Gems? Did Franklin remake the Gems as stones because Stone sounds cooler than Gems and the Thing is made of stones not gems? What is going on?

they renamed the infinity gems infinity stones because that's what the movies call them

Blockhouse posted:they renamed the infinity gems infinity stones because that's what the movies call them Oh I know that is what they did. But at no point has anyone said that. And while I realize that you can't have someone look at the reader and say "these are stones now. Ya dig?" I'd expect some mention of it. Even if it's a cosmic dude yammering about how are puny human brains could never process the majesty of stones and just saw them as uncluttered gems. Because as it is, it just looks like these stones were another cosmic artefact floating around that no one ever mentioned before.

Not discounting that their may be a deeper plot point, but could it be they are just using the words "stone" and "gem" interchangeably since a gem is also, technically, a type of stone?

Wheat Loaf posted:G. Willow Wilson would be the first choice to write Captain Marvel but if she didn't want to do it, I actually think the best option would probably be Busiek. G. Willow Wilson's Carol in the Generations issue was the best she's been written in so, so long. She worked so well as a trailblazer fighting against societal gender norms running a feminist magazine in the 70s, but in the current Marvel universe it's obviously harder to do this take. By that I mean that obviously mainstream comics have a huge historic problem with portrayals of women but in the Marvel universe itself there are many awesome, varied women in positions of power and are role models so it's hard to do this in a contemporary comic and not have Carol come across as anachronistic. Carol Danvers as the celery to Abigail Brand's peanut butter is also acceptable, but Carol works best when she's with a Jessica or an Abigail, yet every solo series gets scared of relying on that, or doesn't last long enough to utilise them fully before another status quo change. bobkatt013 posted:Laura is in space. While I agree with the above sentiments that it needs more space than what Legacy could probably afford, Laura truly is the All-New Wolverine in that editorial actually keeps track of her location! Luckily, they have Old Man Logan and Young Kid Logan are available to fill in on every X-team.

I don't think Everett, Wood or Colan had nearly as much input as Kirby or Ditko, and it shows. It's one of the best examples of the fact that those two did the heavy lifting storywise on their comics, not Lee Also I looked up issue 120. Bob Brown inked by Colletta... There's one bit of copy on the cover of Daredevil #1 that's always bemused me, namely the bit where it advertises the main characters of the book and mentions "Fun-lovin' Foggy Nelson". That sure caught on.

There are a lot of characters obviously that were created and formed in those Silver Age Daredevil comics but it seems like pre-Miller is just totally neglected. I never see it mentioned anywhere. Is it even collected? It's like oh yeah, Daredevil and Black Widow used to share a title!

When I read those issues I found a lot of groundwork for the defining stuff during the Miller era. But otherwise it's just kind of, generic. Not bad but there really wasn't a voice for Matt, just a series of impressive tricks. No one developed him as a character until Miller.

Essential Daredevil got up to 146, which is like 10 or so issues before Miller started drawing the book.

The scene in The Ultimates with Captain Marvel and Black Panther both undercover at a diner (and Carol calling herself kind of a bitch in the third person) was one of my favorite ever scenes for either character.

Motherfucker, woman has raised a kid to toddler age, she can loving babysit. Well, recently she did suddenly take the girl away from Luke, to store her at her awful mother, just so she could do an ill defined undercover job at a prison. But that whole mess was Carol's fault in the first place. So yeah they are kind of jerks there. Jones can be sort of a mess sometimes, but she is absolutely dedicated when it comes to her child's safety. Maybe they're assuming that she wouldn't really care for some other kid. To be honest, that stuff reads as if the writers had no idea that she has a family because they only saw the Netflix show.
