My ex-roommate liked to keep the place at 69 F, except he never turned it back up. When I left the country for two weeks, our power bill went up 100%. So glad he's gone.

Silver is also an easier sell because it's much cheaper than gold. $200 buys a tiny gold coin, but it can also buy about a dozen large silver coins that look a lot more impressive.

They distrust local banks. If you're going to trust a bank, multinational ones are far less likely to collapse than local ones.

When I think of trustworthy companies, I think of multinational banks like HSBC, Wells Fargo, Chase, etc. e: as long as my bank has FDIC insurance, why should I really care if they collapse? sure it might be a little bit of a pain in the rear end to transfer account info and autopays, but the odds of it collapsing are low. that's, uh, also not why antisemites distrust banks.

That's irrelevant, since the article doesn't mention a single thing about local banks. Anti-semites are less likely to participate in banking, period. Tiny, where does that picture of little brontosauruses (that looks wrong, is it brontosaurs?) come from? They are adorable and I would want a BWM quantity of them, although I was somehow able to resist the old Nessie ladles.

I have a friend who is a partner at a family law firm. He sometimes gets offers of weird things to use as payment for representation in things like divorce, custody cases, whatever. He's been offered cars, motorcycles, firearms, real estate, and boats in trade. Most times he has to insist on cash, but he ended up taking a boat once. It's a nice little ski boat, he's had it for 4 years and his family really likes it I'll have to ask him if anyone ever offered a horse. He did tell me that one of the most complex will and estate settlements he ever worked on was with from a deceased man with children from different marriages, two divorced spouses, a business, multiple homes and significant value in other assets. The guy had no will. At all. Had done zero estate planning. The deceased's occupation? A lawyer, one who specialized in wills and estate planning. As he told me this story, he also admitted that he doesn't have a will either.

Not entirely unusual for people who do something professionally to not want to deal with it in their personal lives. Not that it makes not having a will less foolish.
