I bought the game and am happy with it, but the microtransactions are a bigger issue than that. They're in your face every time you need to go into the market for opening a vendetta chest or some other reason. They're also on the title screen. It's obnoxious, ridiculous, and just because you and I can get over it doesn't mean there isn't a valid complaint there. I even have to think about it because despite everyone claiming there are plenty of Legendary Lords by level 43 I've only encountered 8, of which 3 of them gave duplicate legendary gear. The only set I've got more than 2 pieces of is the Bright Lord set.

Norsko the Mad is hands down the best bodyguard.

Me: "Hey, go kill that guy...quietly"

Norsko runs over and tackles him then smashes his face into the ground screaming "Buttons!!"

I kinda wish Talion wore his swords on his hip so his cloak could flap around in the breeze more dramatically. That said, it is kinda cool that this series is one of the only ones that actually has a sensible approach to back scabbards: https://sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/46555/interesting-on-dreaded-back-scabbard

And just like the last game, cutscenes are pre-rendered. This ultra-high quality modern game with 4k textures and cinematics doesn't do in-engine cutscenes. The last game had no excuse, as great care was put into the weapon models (and I'm one of the few who really liked the weapon reforging). This game though it's especially egregious given the amount of customization Talion is capable of.

I managed to kill a Mad guy without him even getting an intro. Big swarm of orcs and then one was yelling about buttons before he dropped gear, that was the only thing that was unusual.

I also got a Tark Slayer from getting killed, nailed him right on the first try of the revenge mission (via explosion), and later heard some random dudes in the wilderness talking poo poo about him for granting himself the title and then immediately getting his rear end kicked. :allears:

Ooooooooooooooooooh okay so it's one at a time, okay. I had no idea this was the case and was wondering how Elven Light could both freeze and set on fire at the same time, I haven't gotten far enough to get anything beyond just the basic skills.

It has a mix of pre-rendered and in-engine, with almost all of the cutscenes being in-engine

I know this becauseI conquered a fortress and during the victory cutscene my cloak spazzed out and it looked like the Ranger was wearing a bustle

Huh, if anything opening the chests is worth it for the training orders. Can I give a guy a cursed weapon and give him the curse ward skill? Is there a limit to this? My free chests could make for a bitching orc.

(I know I could wait until the end of the game to open them for better orcs, but honestly I don't give too much of a poo poo about having to play the game to get more orcs).

Also, the preorder chest, do you get that with each new game you start?

A legendary captain popped for me in Nurn which I thought was nifty. Recruited and levelled him and also brought him with me to the siege.

Had lvl ~150 vs 50 for the fortress.

As I got half way up the first wall I get the message that he's bled out... Legendary my rear end.

If you can get past that tho it's pretty okay, not the same as summoning in some powerhouse bodyguard, but a very sneaky way to either deliver poison or kill grunts and you got like 5-6 of them.

I'm pretty sure it gets unlocked during the main story quests. Not sure when it happens but definitely by the time you have conquered your first fortress and unlocked region travel

Oh man, just got to act 4.

Act 3 loving owns. It just completely leans in to the absolute insanity of this game :allears:

Spoilers

Talion defeats Isildur and releases him from being a ringwraith and seizes his necromancer powers. This lets Celebrimbor join up with Galadriel's assassin as they do a two pronged strike; Talion goes to Minas Morgul and gets a bunch of fancy new necro powers (defeating the Wicth King in the process) while the other two face Sauron directly. The prompt 'dominate Sauron' appears. However Sauron can't be dominated that easily so he drags Celebrimbor into the infamous flaming eye and it goes all color shifty between blue and red.

end result is you go into act 4 with Celebrimbor and Sauron locked in a constant battle in Saurons tower while Talion goes around as a necromancer waging forever war among the orcs so they don't conquer middle earth.

Your new act 4 powers own. Raising the dead (including captains!! though they can no longer level up if you do) and Elven fury is replaced by Talion summoning a bunch of dead dudes to fight. Also your color scheme changes to black and green and you lose the blue.

Are they the small little guys you get from bursting egg sacks? They creep me out but they've been useful so far for one hit kills on orc rabble. They are able to climb though, so that sucks.

I was dumb earlier and summoned a heap of Gondorian's on top of a tower they couldn't climb down from so they had to watch me murder a captain from up there :v:

Don't worry, it is in full swing already proving itself hosed.

gently caress, look at NBA2k where you can play "where's the micro transaction ads" where you are basically always a click away to be able to pay for more character points.
Also look at Forza 7 where the PR have advertised "pay to earn" where you buy a crate and have a chance to get an item to add a difficulty to your next race to add like a flat out 30% to all CR you would gain. The previous games let you increase your gain through free methods like turning off driving line assist (shows you were you should be on the road and if you need to cut speed to take a turn) or other assists. You can still turn assists off but you get no bonuses. Only way to to get the bonuses is to play their money making game. As a side note there is no cash to CR function, but gambling with money indirectly can easily be seen.

My question to people that have super levelled crazed orcs that gained a ton of levels from going crazy: does it make the raids easier and can possibly removes the need of having to deal with the Gamble for Orc game? Even though they might be worthless 30% of the time, the 70% of the time they are not crazy where they touch an enemy and make it explode due to how vastly over levelled they are might remove the need to grind.

Just realized after writing that, Talion can take the path of Scarecrow/Joker where he just tortures orcs to make an army of mental patients.

I'm 30+ hours in and I'm REALLY starting to feel like the games controls and mechanics are not tight enough to make Nemesis difficulty a good idea.

I have died way WAY too loving much just because the game decided that my Execution, or whatever, needs to target some random grunt on the other side of the map instead of the captain that is right in front of me.
The game particularly loves targeting Ologs that are picking their noses behind me with Consume, instead of perfectly good targets in front of me, totally wasting half of my Might bar and knocking me down.

Fortress upgrades have to be unlocked in order. The Fight Pit upgrade is the last. If you have won in the Fight Pits you'll be able to get that upgrade once you unlock the previous one which requires you to be lvl 45.

You seriously misunderstood or ignored what was happening through parts of the end of Act 3. Celebrimbor used Talion to dominate Isildur when Talion was planning on just banishing him like the other Nazgul. Talion didn't agree with this and killed/banished sildur instead. This pissed off Celebrimbor who pointed out that there were other people he could work with, so he asked the elf chick to take over the ring and be possessed by Celebrimbor, thus leaving Talion to die. Then Talion gets convinced to take Isildur's ring to live again and stop Celebrimbor from his plan to dominate Sauron. Then the fight between Celebrimbor, Sauron, and elf chick happens. Basically Celebrimbor and Elf chick betrayed Talion hardcore. There was no plan or siezing of necromantic powers, they came with taking over the ring which Talion needed to survive. Then in Act 4 you're playing Talion whose trying to establish a bastion against Sauron from breaking out of Mordor.

Yeah,

My game skipped out on about half the cutscene after we dominated Isildur so I was piecing it together from what happened after (it froze and I hit escape and suddenly I was Necromancer Talion). That makes it even better though.

Has anyone in Act 4 noticed a lot of Iron Will traits going around? I'm trying to get the Champion fight pit done in Minas Morgul so I've been going through captain's left and right, and by the time I noticed a trend and started counting the last 11 Captian's I've fought, 8 have been Iron Willed.

I'm also trying to level up the few legendary pieces I've got, and it's basically impossible at this point.
