The look on Palpatine's face is brilliant. He says, "Kill him," to Anakin, but he turns and says, "Kill him now" while looking with this victorious smirk directly at Dooku.

But yeah, Lee and McDiarmid are both just soooo good.

Palpatine throws that line out in a very casual way. The mask is off but Anakin doesn't see it because he's already gone.

One of the best parts of the Episode 3 novel because that's exactly what it illustrates.

The opening sequence in EIII reminds me of Legends of Galactic Heroes. Both have the greatest character pieces Star Wars has to offer.

The best part of 3 (and Star Wars as a whole) is the Obi-Wan/Anakin exchange after Obi-Wan owns him. Genuine heartfelt character driven emotion we hadn't seen in the series to that point.

That really isn't the case at all. Just because they shout in that scene doesn't make it the only "genuine" or "heartfelt" moment in that movie or the trilogy. Check out the scene near the beginning of the second act in the hallway between Obi-Wan and Anakin where Obi-Wan tells Anakin that he's going to be have to be an informant.

It'd be a poor idea for Disney to try and replace 'original formula' Star Wars so directly. Authenticity is a hell of a drug, aside from any creative concerns.

It's more than just shouting.

While it's hard to articulate why a a particular performance works, in the scene I mentioned you really get a feel that Obi-Wan and Anakin really were friends. Obi-Wan has a genuine feeling of betrayal from Anakin. Not only did he destroy the very thing Obi-Wan has dedicated his life to (the Jedi Order) but their friendship too. It's an emotionally impactful scene second only to the Luke/Anakin scene at the end of Jedi.

Also great, Anakin yelling "I HATE YOU!"

mo' fo' was PISSED haha

It hit familiar Star Wars plot beats, sure...but that's literally the Star Wars formula. The characters were completely different, and the plot, while familiar, was distinct.

I can't tell if you're being serious. Not only did it copy the plot, it even had some of the same shots and compositions. RLM, countless youtubers, and even critics explains this in great detail with a simple google search.

I'm being very serious. Episode VII is not a remake of Episode IV. Why would it have a completely different episode number, different plot beats, and different characters if it was a remake? The crux of the film's plot is finding a character fr Episode IV. Literally no locations, other than "on board the Falcon" are reused between IV and VII. Other than Han, Luke, Leia, Ackbar, and Nien Nunb, there are no characters from the OT, let alone IV, in VII.

To see if they could.

That's honestly the primary motivation behind nearly all of the Special Edition changes - inventing and practicing techniques they expected to need for The Phantom Menace.

The extension cord is a representation of Amidala being chained to her position as a publicly elected monarch. Much her like dress, she would lose all power when stepping outside of confines of her expected role.
