We're at war with Goons. We were attacked by Goons. Do you want to kill Goons, or would you rather have Citizens killed?

McGiggins posted:

I will have to try the good version. I've tried steam and original CD.

But that's exactly why it was good. In terms of xwa, the mission development and change of pace made the game actually fun. No go here do x mission complete.

"Here pilot, we're pirating this convoy on behalf of the rebellion, with some pirate dudes to help. Oh poo poo, they're shooting the civilians, mission scrub, new mission kill all your former friends before they kill the civvies."

It was loving great.

The family missions interspersed with the rebellion missions made the game feel so much more alive too. Slower paced, and more explorative of some of the games mechanics.

Now I have to go and buy a new hotas before trying to set it all up again. The top gun fox 2 pro I inherited from my father when he gave up gaming now longer works as it used to, it lists lazily to the right. Suggestions for good hotas that will not break bank?

Lucky bastard!

Derek baby, you just don't understand belt digestion. Also, have never used the messaging side of the forum, have no idea how it works or where to even access it from?

Additionally, MoMA, eat your loving belt.

For older games an Extreme 3D Pro or T.16000M joystick by themselves work fine. If you have your heart set on a HOTAS: Thrustmaster T.16000 FCS is around USD 110 from Amazon most days. Very good HOTAS for the money. Personally I use CH stuff, but that has gotten expensive in the 3 years since I bought my set up plus requires pedals since the sticks don't have twist. That being said I played the X-wing series with a CH Flightstick Pro back in the 90's. And you can still buy them brand new with USB cables still.

BTW: Joysticks/HOTAS's I current own

Thrustmaster T16000 FCS + Rudder Pedals
T. Flight 4 (can use same rudder pedals as above)
T.16000 Joystick (old style)
CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, Pro Pedals, Flight Sim Yoke, and Throttle Quadrant (This is the current set up I use in various configurations for almost all my flight games)
Thrustmaster Warthog (Only use with BMS & DCS)
Logitech Extreme 3D Pro

Joysticks & HOTAS's I've had over the past 5 years:
T. Flight X
X-52/Pro (Now made by Logitech)
X-55 (no longer made)
X-56 (now made by Logitech)

All the sane people have already peaced out. They're left with the "eccentics" who won't make it anywhere else.

I hope they lied their asses off to her to string her along for as long as they could. I hope they told her nothing, even after release and they knew that her already bit part she was really looking forward to was actually cut.

That look of angry, sad, betrayal she had is exactly what thousands of people also felt as she “keeps doing what she’s doing”!

If this is the only way she’ll be able to feel even a fraction of what she’s caused to countless other people, good for whatever mythical creature or voodoo doll is causing her grief.

Maybe she can go design some loving shoes for her shoe design company or something to feel better about it. Or go take a dive in the ocean and discover new creatures with her degree in marine biology. Or go put her degree in international marketing to work on another scam sale. Or maybe she’ll think of a way to fix it since she’s the smartest person in the room.

Or maybe she can just go back to being a washed up, poo poo-tier former porn actress who married an equally washed up former Hollywood director who was kicked out of the industry so hard he had to sell cars, and who found restitution in that pathetic life style by accidentally discovering a twisted way to become filthy rich by lying and cheating everybody and their uncle.

Tough choices but I’m sure she’ll make the wrong one that will hurt the most people so long as it propels her forwards. :colbert:

Forrest became involved in the character pipeline when it was decided to redo the FPS characters. I like Forrest on a personal level. I think he is a good guy at heart and is doing the best job he can with the experience and personality he has. His mandate from CR was to improve the look of the characters. So what is the problem? Experience and attitude. Forrest came into the character pipeline full force. He had already decided what was lacking for characters. Namely- the ship art pipeline and techniques. He was not concerned with budget and memory. He was not concerned with time. He wanted what CR wanted- great looking screenshots. He dismissed my concerns about the time it will take to do characters like ships, tri count, and memory. He told me that I didn’t know how to model characters (after eight years of doing this). Forrest is very green, but more importantly it is obvious that he does not know how to deal with conflict or even disagreement. Putting someone with so little experience in games and no experience with characters in charge of the character team was frankly insulting. Billy and I spent a month undoing many of the ship techniques that Forrest had insisted on- mostly multiple materials and how the UVs were laid out. I wouldn’t expect someone at Forrest’s experience level to know what is common sense to anyone who has shipped a title. That is-plan for the game, not for screenshots and know that you will have less memory than you think. Forrest made every rookie mistake in the book in his charge, but what was worse is that he mowed down anyone who challenged his naive assumptions with insults and dismissal. With CR at his back, he stomped around like a child wearing his Father’s boots. Convincing Forrest that he might be wrong about something is a campaign in itself. Forrest might have value from his contributions to other areas of the art, but his involvement with characters was wasteful in time and effort, and absolutely corrosive to moral. He is simply the wrong man for the job and is one of my biggest reasons for leaving.

I feel like it's not even going to be that. It might make a mark on crowd-funding or early access, though probably not, but mainstream gaming doesn't pay much attention to it, does it? All the hype is completely ridiculous nonsense that anyone sane just rolls their eyes at, all the actual materials are really mediocre.

I feel like in a couple years when you ask your buddy "hey remember that really disappointing space ship game?" they'll probably answer no man's sky if anything.

For everyone else, you've given them hundreds of thousands, if not millions, to pursue whatever they want to do. I'm sure they thank you for helping them do what they've only dared dreamed.

The rest of us politely say "Stop emailing us asking for your money back." I know the official line is that everything is great and we are making money like crazy, but it's not. Things here are dire. They've been dire for awhile but you can feel the shame and terror every time you walk into the building. I know this is coming off harsh. I don't care. I'm sick of working here and I'm especially sick of the whiny emails I continue to get. What did you expect?

I cashed out four months ago via GM. If you can sell a ship to a buyer, take it. Take it for half. Just take it.

You can also email and ask for a partial refund for 10%. Those we will approve without a problem, although it might take six or eight weeks to process now. Otherwise, stop asking, stop emailing and stop whining. Just stop.

BTW, reading the Evocati patch notes, I have to question if they actually have a decent QA (who am I kidding, of course they don't). IIRC, CIG always proclaimed that the builds go through their internal QA, and then to Evocati to catch bugs which occur when a huge variety of hardware runs the game plus different locations and people. So basically standard procedure.

The bugs listed as patched, however, appear to me as bugs which should have been caught by internal QA, because many of them don't seem like they are related to playstyle, hardware config or network stuff.

So I guess we can assume that their whole "we are working hard to get the build through internal QA so it's Evocati ready" is a lie and it's more like "we are working hard so the build is at a state where our devs can play it for ten minutes or longer after the builds is finished, then we push it to Evocati for the dirty work. Our internal QA is a pink haired girl, though, which we mostly use for PR".

Mind you, that pink haired QA girl actually seems to be one of the few decent person working at CIG.
