How does the exhaust work? I missed that bit, other than the manifold was in the way of the brake lever. And there's always the option of just not run anything bolted to the heads, which is only slightly more annoying than open pipes.

Truck idles good Map disconnected, but noise and clunking from the transmission. Dies with Map plugged in Wheels still off, not a test drive yet. Where is the fill or inspection port for fluid level on a Muncie 420

Oh Jesus, this is so good. I'm trying to explain to my girlfriend why I'm spending so much time cackling at my laptop instead of doing my boyfriendly duties over here, and I'm unable to summarize this entire story without going off on 20 tangents; are there any good summaries so far in this thread? As someone who drives a SM420 somewhat regularly, it's always going to be a bit clunky. Clunky without moving no, but it's not a refined transmission. If need be a rebuild kit for these things is $150 or so and can be done with a hammer and a few large screwdrivers. Looks like changing the fluid is a good start though.
