I know the metal thread doesn't do much accounting for individual tastes but you'd think people would at least recognise that Babymetal are techinically talented and put on a great live show even if they personally can't stand the aesthetic.

Rob Zombie popped in my head for some reason (maybe I saw a homeless guy) so I decided to give this album a spin again. It's actually still pretty awesome, and I think the first hard rock/metal album I ever bought. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7tZvyM4ZaY

I was never a fan of all the sampling that white zombie did but it's easy to overlook because the music had a great groove. Sexorcisto is a must-have. And then Rob went off and did Hillbilly and it was a lot of "drat, he got better??"

White Zombie is stupid but fun. Rob solo was awesome when I was 11 but doesn’t hold up (not that I won’t turn up to Dragula whenever I hear it). I saw Rob play all of Astro-Creep at Riot Fest last year and I expected to walk away after three songs but it was actually a blast. It’s also fun to think about how when I was a kid and my neighbor played Rob Zombie I was legitimately terrified of his samples and videos.

Definitely sounds pretty dated in parts though.

It holds up pretty well even now, although there are some meh parts here and there.

Rob/White Zombie's machine beats are so crunchy and groovy. John Tempesta recorded a bunch of them as MIDI for Superior Drummer too..

I saw Rob Zombie live one time, was cool, I like the big dancing robot. On samples, first time I saw Curse of Frankenstein I was pleased to hear "Perhaps you had better start from the beginning...", great movie to watch this month folks! On Japan fun time, I like Onmyouza. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSCm7dwe_fc

Even if you never bought this CD, almost every action movie for the next five years had it in their soundtrack. My favorite was End of Days literally just playing it over the OST.

A lot of metal sounds good slowed down a little bit. Once I slowed down the pitch on my turntable and forgot about it then just got used to the sound for a while. Good times.
