Who are Saban's current assistants? Those usually get snatched up first foolishly.

I hadn't heard of him. South Alabama and Troy have both shown some success as well.

I really hope at this point that Florida has exhausted themselves of hiring Saban assistants.

I think bigger programs might take a run at Brohm or Matt Campbell. Norvell at Memphis seems well positioned for a P5 job. Blake Anderson is probably gonna cruise to his third straight sun belt title at Arky State. Jason Candle has kept Toledo marching along. Seth Littrell doesn't have a huge track record yet but he's a really good offensive coach and is doing a nice job turning UNT around. Frank Wilson seemed like he was gonna be a hot name, especially since he was a great recruiter in the SEC, but UTSA hasn't looked great recently.

For coordinators Moorhead at PSU is a big one. Schiano might get anothet shot from someone. Alex Grinch is doing an awesome job with Washington State's defense.

South Alabama sucks. I like Neal Brown at Troy but they've underachieved this year aside from the LSU game

It's hard to imagine anyone would take a run at Brohm after one season. Especially since Purdue just lost to Rutgers.

It's not like this is the first time he's ever been a head coach. He was awesome at WKU and they fell off a cliff without him this year. Purdue is way better than they have any right to be, even with a bad loss today. Hazell won 3 conference games in 4 years

I figure Tennessee may go after Brohm just because he's a Louisville guy and Knoxville is in the same general area of the country.

Wasn't WKU more of a Taggart success story? Not that I'm doubting his Purdue turnaround - that speaks for itself.

What about Jeff Monken at Army? I know it's triple option, but he's been pretty impressive there.

Comedy option: Chip Kelly

I assume Chad Morris and Bryan Harsin are going to be power 5 coaches next season

As far as Harsin is concerned, I'm not sure if anybody is that bowled over by him being just an okay caretaker at Boise for two years

Calhoun has interviewed a few times, and Ken is starting too after years of being resistant to it. Even though they're good coaches lots of power five programs won't touch them because of the option stigma (though that's less an issue with Calhoun). There's a lot of rumbling about Niamatalolo and Oregon State right now, which would be an awesome hire for them. Nebraska should look at him too if frost doesn't want to go home but probably won't.

Taggart started it but they only won 7 games with him. They won 10+ games and the conference twice in a row with Brohm. Plus you can tell he's a really good offensive coach just watching those teams. I think he's Petrino without the gross parts.

General Dog posted:

Yeah I don't really get the appeal there, Boise is still fine but they've been steadily falling off from where they were. They're good but they haven't been a serious contender for best G5 program with him and he inherited about as good a G5 situation as you can get. I could see a west coast team making a run because there aren't a ton of standout mountain west guys right now but eh. I also don't think he's all that eager to leave

Just checked Wikipedia and Taggart was apparently was gone from WKU *way* before I thought he was. Legit thought those bowl teams were Taggart's.

Brohm has a lovely roster, and he has a track record. He's a good coach. I think he'll wait for Louisville to open up.

I'll add Dino Babers to the list. Baylor was stupid not to go after him last year. His tenure hasn't been perfect, but dude knows how to coach offense, and I think he'd be insane with better talent.

Dave Clawson and Dave Doeren seem like good candidates to move up. Nebraska would hire Paul Johnson if they weren't stupid.

Tyson Summers was a really bad fit for Georgia Southern. Before he'd been in Statesboro a year, he'd already burned through co-offensive coordinators, who now have pending litigation against the university for breach of contract.

Expect AD Tom Kleinlein to get the ax soon as well.

Replacing a 64-year-old with a 60-year-old is gonna be a tough sell, nevermind the massive gear shift in offensive system that would need to occur (granted, this would happen under Frost as well)
