The neatest thing about rock nongirls is they kind of solved the worst thing about cgi models, the bad hair. Like it is still kind of really weird looking and definitely overcompensating, but you can just pretend that's cuz it is goddamn rock. I love how the show looks.

anyway that was kind of a bad post but it was like 4 in the morning and ive spent 20 years having people do the 'don't get your hopes up... this series doesn't ACTUALLY engage with these things' dance even about things that are already finished and clearly did. like I spent a lot of my formative years arguing on the internet about utena being a show about lesbians and usually getting banned for disagreeing with the group think that it was a shoujo romance and utena belonged with touga, lol. so i got a little heated. I'm not gonna back down on the 'posting like this is kind of a lovely thing to do' thing but yeah, that wasn't really contributing to the conversation any.

....Doesn't the Utena movie end with her and Anthy banging on top of a motorcycle-chariot thing as they ride away from some dude's castle as it crumbles to dust? You know, like straight people do? Also Konohana Kitan is sneaky-good, the last two eps have quietly been more sensitive and ambitious than the premise and intro might have led people to believe.

I agree that the cgi in Houseki is really ugly. I'll definitely be sticking to the manga. I've been enjoying The Ancient Magus and BBB though.

And yeah, Utena is definitely about lesbians, like, I don't get how anyone could see it as about anything else? Touga always came off as this creepy rape guy wanting to get in the way of Utena and Anthy because he's super self centered and thinks everything should belong to him and sees Utena and Anthy as possessions instead of as people. Anyway, sorry again about coming off as a jerk, it was not meant that way.

Yuri on Ice started out with a legit good "holy poo poo Yuri you're such a closet case" tension that worked but it lost that once it started getting too many characters, and then it ended with a wet fart. You don't have to be depressing to be a good gay anime but Yuri on Ice could have been a lot better.
