Also all you have to do is download the NBC app, and you can watch the current season of The Good Place. No sub required. I am not sure how long the episodes stay up, but it works as a DVR for me (since my Vue sub doesn't have NBC), but you just have to watch the commercials.

However, if it's not for you, then that's okay too.

The only thing that bothers me about Mindhunter is how I can close my eyes and hear Ethan Hawke whenever the main character speaks. It's uncanny.

It's just there to ramp up the tension in their discussion. Fincher seems to like having an important discussion go on while something else urgent is slapping you in the face on screen. Remember when Holden is on the phone and finding out the Kemper tried to kill himself, while at the same time being distracted by seeing Tench, Carr and Shepard walking out of the room together?

Started Season 2 of Stranger Things. Three episodes in, and I'm feeling like it's not bad, and I'll enjoy watching the rest. Not feeling compelled to burn through it like the first season, probably because the plot is a lot less compelling and there's much less mystery. Still really enjoying the soundtrack, and the actors do good work with their characters. Patton Oswalt's new special, Annihilation, is brutally good. I nearly teared up at some of the stuff about his wife, and managed to still be laughing a few seconds later. Good on him. Also loved the crowd work bit at the top of the act and just how much that first woman he speaks too is just terrible at her job and doesn't give a poo poo. The Netflix documentary One of Us, about people leaving Hasidic communities was amazing, though definitely depressing. The filmmakers threaded the needle pretty well of showing how terrible the community is towards people who don't fit in, while at the same time contextualizing the ultraorthodox lifestyle and philosophy as a response to the Holocaust.

I agree that if you don't like genial humor with a pinch of darkness then you'll never warm much to The Good Place. Binged stranger things S2. I think I have lower standards than most folks because despite how derivative it was of S1 I enjoyed the hell out of it. Billy seducing Mike's mom had me rolling. The sisters in the city part was on noxious but survivable and clearly there to set up s3 stuff.

I thought you were just lionizing them, which is kinda scary. There aren't a whole lot of actors/directors anymore where I feel unambiguously "if this person turns out to actually suck I'm gonna be sad". Having said that, Tim Roth is cool so far as I know, he just happened to be lumped in with two assholes.
