Scrubbing through the video, he specifically calls it "using science and the right equipment to overcome superstition and and the supernatural" and proceeds to try to knock off Harry Potter (uses the same thing as bad guys!), King Arthur (requires an adventure to get it!) and Star Wars (only special people can use a lightsaber apparently?) before anyone can make a counter-argument, and this is somehow wrapped up in an explanation of why Ghostbusters appealed to kids as well as adults?

By the way he says specifically science over superstition as they're crossing the streams, which is, as you said, hilarious given that's the big leap of faith moment in the movie. It's like his subconscious is telling him he's wrong as he's putting the drat video together.

Also holy poo poo does he not shut up or have any change in the tenor of his voice for anything, it's like he's never interacted with another person offline. This is the equivalent of a tl;dr post as a speech.

And oh dear god he did one of these "Really That Good" for The Avengers and does anyone want to suffer through that for the sake of the thread

That's funny because Harry Potter more than most children's books features good skeptical concepts and problem solving through experimentation based on codified rules. Like when they have a problem they go to a library and research it and figure out what dealing with it might entail, when they hear some magical legend even though they are wizards they try to verify it and don't take it at face value. It's a very good series of books for lessons of knowledge is power.

I just started the screeners I got for The Punisher Netflix series and lol, I'm not at all surprised they pushed the release back after the Vegas shooting. The title sequence is a loving, stylistic look at a rifle and then the logo is literally made up of a bunch of guns.

Was there a shooting in Vegas in the show? Or some place that resembles Vegas? Because otherwise it's like delaying John Wick because someone's dog got ran over

Jesus. Wow.

To answer your question: probably not, but there are certainly scenes with assault rifle deaths and 58 people died in an attack that involved multiple assault rifles.

Also while that was on people's minds, making actors do press tours talking about their shooty guns action show about a lone gunman, standing next to standees and posters of a grimacing Bernthal pointing an AR15 at the audience surrounded by bulletholes and blood - would be in pretty bad taste!

Accurate, yea.

It's reasonable to give people time to get their minds off it so they can enjoy the shooty skull gunz show without thinking about a recent massacre.

People keep saying this like it's true, but Dredd is just a straight-up hero in Dredd. The worst thing he does is tell a guy he will get thrown in an isocube if he keeps loitering. He's the hero Mogadishu Planet needs.

I'd say the worst thing he does is probably when he uses white phosphorus on those guys near the phonebooth, personally.

With "Infinity War," the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he's entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he's almost one of the leads. We've shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he's going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy being one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, [and] that brought some inspiration.

Now the soundbyte is Avengers 3 = Thanos's Eleven. A Witch Called Wanda. Umm... The Thanos Crowne Affair.

He does shoot someone at a distance from atop a building in the cold open of the first episode, so it's not unreasonable for them to have pushed it back, especially with the Vegas incident so close to the original release. It's very much not like delaying John Wick because someone's dog got run over.

Luckily for Marvel the series is a little more Bourne-y so far than Death Wish, so that will probably help cut down on some thinkpieces.

As long as I get more scenes of Michael Pena describing what's going on, I am so okay with that. If the entire movie is just Pena reading all the lines and the actors lip syncing it, while he describes the story it will be a step above.

Speaking of which, that New Warriors show featuring Squirrel Girl is apparently not going to be on Freeform anymore. It's looking for another channel.

Meanwhile, a group of MCU women (Brie Larson, Tessa Thompson, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johannsen, and Karen Gillan) pitched an all-female Marvel movie: https://www.cbr.com/marvel-all-female-film-johansson-thompson/
