The Akh Morns hit for 300k, there are at least 3 to start with.
The auto attacks are 66k

Actual question, how the hell is this beatable with damage numbers like that? Like I'm primarily a tank and unless those autos are coming like once every ten seconds I have no idea how the hell I could ever survive that.

Akh Morns... depending on the time between them, I guess I could survive some with Holmgang? I don't think you can mitigate hits for 300k well enough to survive them unless you just straight invuln them without doing crazy poo poo like a WAR popping every cooldown they have, Inner Beast, and also a PLD doing Intervention with both Rampart and Sentinel, Divine Benison, and an Adlo. Mathing it out I think a tank stance WAR with Divine Benison and Adlo would have around 100k effective HP, and you'd live with Rampart, Vengeance, Raw Intuition, and Inner Beast from the WAR themself and Intervention with Rampart and Sentinel from a PLD, taking like ~90k damage. I suppose you could trade in poo poo like Reprisal and Palisade and Sacred Soil such for some of the longer cooldowns, but still that's insanity. I'm pretty sure it takes either an invuln or somewhere around 8-10 cooldowns for a tank to survive a 300k hit.

But seriously autos for 66k is ridiculous. And looking at the pace of the damage in the clips I have no idea how I would ever survive that. Like even a WHM hammering Cure 2 nonstop isn't going to keep up. gently caress, a WHM hammering Cure 2 and a SCH hammering Adlo nonstop wouldn't keep up, it looks like.

It's enraged because they didn't do enough dps in the previous phase.

Oh, okay.

Like I expect Ultimate to be hard, I was mostly baffled at how that one group cleared it if he's just casually autoing for 90% of the tank's health every few seconds. Glad he's not

Newer player here. I've got a DPS class as my main but wanted to get started on leveling a tank and healer on the side. I wanted to ask which of the available healing and tanking classes are the simplest/most newbie friendly ones. I've been enjoying this game a lot, but I'm generally bad at video games and wanted to make sure I didn't accidentally stumble into a class with a really complicated rotation or something like that.

All personal opinion, but I think White Mage is probably the simplest healer to pick up and paladin is the simplest tank to pick up if you are new. Neither of them have complicated rotations or anything complex mechanic wise.

I can't speak too heavily to the tank side of things, but to me whm is the simplest healer. It's mostly about Mana management and positioning and reacting to your stupid pubbies standing in aoes they shouldn't be(unless of course the addition of job gauges changed the class since I haven't played it in SB).

If true, that's ridiculous. Failure to meet a DPS check should punish you instantly, not one entire successfully completely phase later.

The punish you with things like that in a lot of savage fights. If anyone dies during an intermission on A8S, brute justice gets a permanent buff. If any adds make it to the edge in A3S, living liquid gets a permanent damage buff. If the heart doesn't get killed in A7S, quickthinks allthoughts gets a massive damage buff.

It’s dumb in every case there though at least it’s a relatively fast failure.

I main all 3 healers and WHM is definitely the easiest and most powerful at pure healing. SCH is also fairly easy and simply adds a couple of management mechanics in the form of Aetherflow and Aetherpact. You just have to keep track of your one-use resources and know how to allocate properly. AST is by far the most enjoyable and rewarding to play, but can actually be a bit to manage to play effectively. Learning new content while managing to keep up your card rotation and earthly star placement was a bit much for me, so I sidelined the AST until I have new (to me) savage content memorized. I'll definitely be going back to it, as properly using earthly star and managing my card stack has been one of the most enjoyable healing experiences I've had in any game.

Also if Akh Morn works the way it always does then that's 300k split between the two tanks, so 'only' 150k each.

I have to point out that the first hit is Morn Afah and it does 300k to both tanks. He does 3*30k Akh Morn instantly after that

Even if you split it among the whole party, assuming it is a split mechanic, that still 75k to each person.
