There was a good mantou place near my house in Taiwan, but I always got the "red sugar," gently caress straight-up white bread. I guess "classic" American means white people who don't like spicy food or something? I'm seriously at a loss here cause I'm not white but my family's been in America for about 400 years someone help me out

What people eat completely changes based on region, and lots of folks on the coasts are way more adventurous, but there are tons of people i've known and grown up with who are afraid of trying new things. EG: Pizza - oven Yams - roast them in the oven Brussel Sprouts - add salt and pepper and roast them in the oven Chicken - add seasoning and roast it in the oven Turkey - roast it in the oven Bread - cooked in the oven Pie - oven Pasta - speed things up by putting in the oven Meatloaf - also oven Grilled Cheese - oven Potatoes - I guess we just boil them and add butter, but you can also roast them. I guess theres the deep fryer too ntan1 fucked around with this message at 22:15 on Nov 6, 2017 |

Okay, but Midwestern food and Southern food are pretty different. The former is inexcusable and the latter is unforgivable.

Like I get that hurting people is hilarious because it's still SA in 2002 but I was really upset by that incident because it was pure nastiness and insanity for no reason I can understand. Can we just stop with the "Fleta hates black people" thing? It is something I am really hurt by and, whether you like my posts or not, I am not known to most of you and have never injured or tried to injure any of you. Pee pee buttholes etc.

But "deep south" food has a lot of flavor... Anyway, I suppose from a Chinese perspective, "American" food is food white people eat. Makes sense since those are the only Americans they ever seem to interact with. Or the junk food they eat while hiding in their dorm room for 4 to 6 years buying their American diploma and scurry off back to get their daycare job position back home.

nickmeister posted:All this talk about bland, unimaginative Chinese food reminds me of that Vice article written by an angry ABC girl who was angry about bland "white people" food. And also Marco Polo brought cured ham from China only actually the Romans were doing it in like 200BC so The Mediterranean is quite a place, they learned how to make food edible without even cooking it, just leaving it holed up long enough. Food culture can be amazing. Side note, kimchi doesn't go bad, it just goes from "banchaa dish" to "soup addition only". Source: work-related, jar left for like, half a year? Maybe more? Kind of like how Chinese people stir fry everything in a wok, without exception, even though there's other options? I mean, I'm sure someone in China does this, literally(just like at least one person does your example), but implicating a stereotyped bias is loving stupid. Also, you don't use an oven in the American south during the summer, it's too loving hot. Southern food may be bad for you, but if there was anyone I would trust to make even a 3' long piece of vinyl siding taste good it would be a southern cook/soul food chef.
