So what's the point of d3 these days? What does one do in the"season"?
I built a 2 for 1 skeletal mage spam Max essence spend and restore globe build, and now I can't think of anything interesting in the game. Like, go into rift, right click 3 times, wait, do again, teleport onto health globes, right click 3 times, pop shrines with Nemesis equipped and forget what that does every time, etc.
It was fun to get there, but now that I'm skely god, it's boring.
Play hardcore?
Never actually played D3, but hardcore in D2 was where I went once I'd got sick of duping SOJs and murdering cows. I couldn't even stomach playing softcore again after I made the switch, it didn't feel like a proper game.

also I think you'll find I called Star Citizen failing way back in 136ad, when I beheld the prophecy of chris roberts saving pc gaming, illuminated by the virgin moon
Ecce magna Roberts
qui sunt electi ad consolatorium resistentem
sordida ab agresti
transirent Crimen lux et mortalibus
gravi responsalitate interposita
Nihil video defectus suos et nihil inveniet
Multi enim genus ludi magistrum

Gee, maybe it's because it's all made up bullshit?
Oh really? Please cite where you posted that and when. Here, I'll go first.
That's because at some point you have to realize that being in it for shits and lols is fine. But at the end of the day, I never entered this fray to capitalize on the angst and anguish of gamers - my install base. Regarding Star Citizen, I do what I do specifically for accountability and vindication. I have been consistent throughout; and along the way there were some lols to be had.
When you keep flooding people with bullshit, eventually they become de-sensitized to it. And that's also how fake news, used correctly, works. That's why even those cultist rear end-clowns on /r/ds aren't even paying attention any more.
It's also the reason that I no longer even post leaks. And even when I do, I tend to run it through 2-3 people I trust as sources, before I make anything public. The situation is so fluid, that something can change at any time. But there is a difference between things like "they have 90 days worth of funding left" that ends up changing due to external sources, and something like "croberts financed a movie with backer money" which, while having a hint of plausibility, is just preposterous - all things considered.
A lot of industry people connected to this poo poo-show are talking. But it doesn't mean that everyone is blurting out bullshit, let alone making poo poo up on the fly. All that does is take away from the seriousness of the issue regarding the loss of over $163 million in public gamer money - and the huge impact that the impending collapse will have on our industry as a whole.
Let's examine your latest for example:
This is all bullshit.
For one thing, there is no way anyone who doesn't have first hand knowledge of this, could possibly know how much money - if any - croberts and/or Sandi put into a production.
That aside from the fact that the way the movie business works, there is no way they could have funded any part of it, only to see Sandi's part completely cut from the movie. I mean, seriously.
In contrast to my reporting of this from years ago. Sandi is an aspiring actress. It's like a side gig, no different from us who have hobbies. But back when I leaked news that she was not only making films on company property, but also using company funds to do it, a lot of people called me crazy. Until I started posting the pics as proof. It wasn't long before she was forced to cop to it on social media; and to the extent that she even had to deny using company funds for it. Then even more video proof showed up; some showing performances by staff (e.g. Alex Mayberry), and again on company property. Then I found and linked the production company to her and Ortwin. The rest is history. It's in the blogs.
And there is no loving way that they're dumb enough to use company money, especially not to that amount, to fund external activities that have no bearing on the company's goal of building two games for which they were funded. Paper trail and unjust enrichment claims aside, that's just recipe for fraud charges down the road. Not so long ago, the Lily drone fiasco, as well as the FTC own guidelines, have made it clear that using crowd-funding money for other purposes, was legally actionable.
If croberts and his entourage are using their own personal money (from backer funded paychecks) for things like this, then it's perfectly legal. The issue at hand would be if they were starving the company of funding, while lining their pockets, and using those gains to benefit themselves. And that Red flag would be the sort of things already seen in the UK financials whereby they they are taking money out of the company, lining their pockets, while putting the company into debt via loans.
Gee, shocker.
Chris, Ortwin, Sandi come from the dregs of the movie industry. So it's not far-fetched that they would still be involved in it somehow. Especially knowing that the games they're supposed to be building, are FUBAR.
Here's the thing. They can do wtf they want with the money; whether or not they deliver any games. Making plans for the future after this dumpster fire stops burning, makes perfect sense. Always have a plan B. And seeing as he knows that he's completely hosed as far as gaming is concerned; unprepared, he'd be back selling (yes, this is an absolute fact, and there are public records to prove that he was selling exotic cars, along with a partner) cars if he's not sitting in jail when the flames die down.
I don't believe for one second that they're promoting the company as a digital effects company. It's pure bullshit. There are literally DOZENS of those companies right there in Hollywood and it's their core business.
A game company which has never shipped a product of any kind, and which is primarily funded by public money, promoting itself as a digital effects company is so ludicrous, it beggars belief. Aside from the fact that they could never - ever - keep that secret. Heck, croberts is in Comcast Spectrum ads, has done promo deals with AMD, Intel, and Saitek. But yeah, the big one is the one they're going to keep secret, because it's so loving special.
Because it was rumored that croberts used part of the Freelancer funding to make effects for the Wing Commander movie, is probably where this bullshit "leak" comes from. Low hanging fruit if you ask me.
I don't even know where to begin with this one.
- Running out of money? Gee, you think?
- Hope nobody looks too closely at the UK tax credit?
Why? Unless they've committed fraud, and Coutts (who loaned them money) is in on it, there's nothing here. Other than they took out a payday loan due to low funds. Of course, anyone paying attention to the financial filings for the UK, already knows that their financial situation is in the crapper, and that they've been ripping off backers by taking money out of the company for personal gain, while saddling the company with debt. And we don't even have 2017 figures yet.
- Intel funded two shows?
That's not how that works.
In my entire industry tenure, having done exclusive deals, promo deals, E3/GDC and similar showcases with partners etc, money tends not to change hands just because you showed up as a partner. It's a marketing partnership that is usually about getting paid on units sold through the promo you are attached to. e.g. the AMD video card giveaways, the Saitek branded controller etc, are all most likely standard backend deals. The Intel SSD is no different. That's why they have a ship tie-in for which the redeem code can be used to track the number of units sold, and on which they get paid. Same with the video card. In some cases, depending on the deal, you may get some advance on a number of units. e.g. when I did my exclusive deal with Electronics Boutique for Battlecruiser Millennium Gold, I got a cash advance, which was then recouped against a number of units sold. When I did my exclusive deal with Turner GameTap for the original Echo Squad game, same thing.
- Amazon floated some money?
No, that's not how that works either. They have ZERO incentive to give them ANY money. There is no product. There is nothing of value for Amazon in such a deal. Not to mention that Amazon is actually building several game studios in their on-going bid to justify their LumberYard (a Trojan horse for AWS) investment which they have yet to recoup seeing as NOTHING has been produced from it - not even from their own studios.
- cash injection from a movie company?
Yeah, OK, whatever, man.
At some point, I am hoping that you have enough sense to know that the bulk of the poo poo you're posting, even in a tongue-in-cheek manner, expecting to get a rise, does more harm than good because it just creates more noise which then detracts from the real issues.
Stop this bullshit, because you're NOT helping.

Back again this week for another email Q&A session between my lucky Evocati friend and I. There's a lot of small back-and-forth questions I had for my friend so I lumped them together in the same topic as best I could.
Q: How's testing been?
A: I've been very busy outside of the testing environment, so testing has been sporadic for me. My job sent me out of state last week, so I missed a couple patches. We're waiting for patch O to arrive soon.
Q: How's shopping and missions going?
A: Missions aren't priority testing, so let's skip that. The shopping experience is still very much a WIP, but it's getting there. Dumper's Depot sells individual ship equipment on display like other shops, but you can't interact with the shop keepers yet. Same deal with Miles and Mr. Shadow. Buying & selling cargo is the same as previous weeks. Yes there are new weapons, suits, and armors to try and purchase. Ships can carry/haul cargo boxes 1/4th the size of a 1 SCU box like in previous builds. All cargo boxes are the same size and weight no matter the contents inside. No the cargo boxes do vary in looks and color depending on the contents. No you can't open the cargo boxes. No they are not throw-able. No you can't sit on them. No you can't kick them. (Are you messing with me?) Yes you can stack and place them anywhere you can reach. Yes cargo is persistent. Cargo boxes do spawn on the specified ship when buying them from trade kiosks. They do despawn when selling them. No you can't make profit from selling them yet. Yes the reworked Cutlass can carry two bikes and have enough room for cargo and 6 passengers. Yes cargo boxes can be carried around by your character, but lately the moons' surfaces are quicksand (collision bug) so it's not fun landing ships and vehicles on them.
Q: What improved feature do you like most in 3.0?
A: It's tough to choose just one. My top 3 are the improved party system, improved inventory, and the inner thought selection. Least? the limited fuel we're given, preventing us from reaching other planets in the Stanton System.
Q: Is it true the secret derelict ship is the Javelin? Where can you find it?
A: That is true. It can be found in one of Daymar's plateaus between OM4 and OM6 buoys. It's tough to triangulate because it's one of many unmarked derelict sites and it's surrounded by other land features. It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be. I've yet to see it from space. Levski can be seen from OM2. Its mining hole is a dead giveaway.
Q: What do you say to people who want to end the Evocati phase now and release 3.0 as is?
A: Those people either have short-term memories or they weren't there to experience 2.0 in all its crashing bug-ridden glory. 3.0, as is, still needs a lot of bug-fixing and improvements. Missions aren't working as intended for obvious reasons, and cargo still needs a lot of work. Moons' surfaces are still quicksand and CTDs happen at truly random times. Outpost markers still only appear when you're outside your ship, making it tedious to reach marked outposts. The mobiGlas' star map and inventory apps are still buggy and unresponsive at times. NPCs aren't interact-able yet. The x000x errors are very prevalent, preventing a percentage of ETF members from loading into the game. Insurance still doesn't work as intended, preventing previously-used ships to be locked. The only workaround for insurance-locked ships seems to be re-copying your account to PTU every patch which becomes tedious quickly. Point is, 3.0 is not ready to be tested by non-NDA testers. The wait for 3.0 is painful, but the aggravation and the mountain of salt it will add to the pile is not worth it for the average backer. Patience and persistence is very much a desired trait for testing builds like 3.0.
Q: I know you hate predictions but do you believe 3.0 PTU will come this year?
A: I stand by my previous answer. Don't expect it this month.
And that's it for this week. Enjoy and discuss. To my fellow U.S. citizens, go vote!
P.S. For those who may be angry about the surprise derelict being spoiled, it was your choice to click on this spoiler thread.

Please don't get into slap fights with TheAgent, Derek. We all understand he's just flinging out hearsay.
You two have entirely different motivations.
Agreed. In truth, I'm not engaging in slap fights though. I can see how it comes off that way. I will try to do better in my next rant so as not to give off that impression.
But yes, you are right, we both have different motivations and reasons. Looks like I failed to convey that in my missive. I should have probably used more words and written a blog?

If you have any sense of humor, you'll laugh your butt off at the absurdity of the game.
Kiwami isn't bad, but since it is basically a remake of a game made many moons ago the side stories aren't as good as 0. Can't wait to see what they do with 6.
Oh, I've already touched the Yakuza franchise briefly, and could probably hit Kiwami, but I'd like to take a good clean hit at 0.
So what's the point of d3 these days? What does one do in the"season"?
A season is a series of achievements that you can obtain to get items. A season character exists for that season and it loving rains items on you. It's actually quite enjoyable, although I'm waiting on the price drop for necromancer.
Nefilim rifts can extend your game a bit, as they scale as you complete them. Also, the game allows you to scale up to nightmare and beyond. There's a lot more treasure goblins and side-quests than it started with as well.
This is a good post and true. Nothing against homeworld actually, but god drat space games suck.
I'm having more fun with space pirates and zombies 2 than I should be, but it's a melange of starfleet command and mount & blade.
Now kiss...

Really it's only the freeform space trading sim games that suck and even there you have Elite:Dangerous. If you're looking for narrative or just general "set-in-space" games there's tons of good stuff.
Independence War 2
Freespace 2
Sins Of A Solar Empire
Stellaris
Sword Of The Stars 2 (sorta?)
Homeworld
House Of The Dying Sun
Space Engineers
Kerbal Space Program
Galactic Civ III
Battlefleet Gothic: Armada
Mass Effect 1/2/3
FTL
Rimworld
Rebel Galaxy
X3: Terran Conflict
Children Of A Dead Earth
Strike Suit Zero
Sword of the Stars Prime is actually quite a good game that manages to work out asymmetric warfare. It's mostly bug free, although propaganda ships don't work that well.
Sword of the Stars II is largely unfinished and the AI commits suicide more often than not. If they'd have carved out the RTS section, they would have had a solid basis for a game. But Mecron.
If you're including 4x - and I probably wouldn't - Distant Worlds needs to be in there.

Seriously though, I check this place out of habit now more than anything, but there's still gems I get from it like this summer's gamescom so yea - I dunno why anyone comes here to be serious about anything other than DSmart's ego project and ofc the standard pet taxes that I'm glad folks here continue to be serious about.
Because this is loving SERIOUS you guys.

Serious question...what's going on with the game? Is it out yet? What about the single player part?

god drat space games suck.
I have to agree, with one exception: Space Engineers is dope as hell, I have like 250 hours in that gem, and that was all before planets.

Hey MoMA what's the last game you bought? Honest question. What's the last game you really enjoyed?
Right now I'm loving Dirt Rally, have an epic Civ4 game on the go the last couple of weeks and the darker nights have for some reason put me in the mood for starting a Silent Hunter III campaign (with the Grey Wolves mod)
I've given up on Elite because I cannot stomach the long supercruise travelling any more, I just can't take it and it hurts me because I love so much else about it.
