This could be interpreted as both “awkward because of the gang rape” and “who listens to new Decapitated material in 2017?”

She's not exactly a female Johan Hegg, but perfectly passable imo. Bonus points for good enunciation. I guess it's only the good old US of A where politicians are traditionally the least cool people at any given gathering. The fact that old white conservatives are still pearl-clutching about metal in 2017 is hilarious. Oh no, the youths are coming with their scary devil music!

I'm totally gonna put together the full-on black metal outfit for the Enslaved show. And then I guess my next thing is just waiting to see what they announce for New England Metal & Hardcore Fest 2018 and if it's worth going. 2014 had an amazing lineup.

The ex-frontman from Battle Beast has a new band, Beast in Black, and they just released their debut album which is pretty great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdlAZj5iDc8 That said, check the three first Battle Beast albums too. Their latest one that they made after kicking the guy out is boring because he was the one with any songwriting chops, but the older material is solid cheesy fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ8m8_vtL-A Hopefully you don't mind hefty doses of 80s synth pop in your metal, though. Couple other album picks from recent-ish years: Merging Flare - Reverence Top grade euro power from the "no frills" end of the spectrum; Guitar driven and no gigantic choirs and poo poo. Kai Hansen does a guest appearance which is fitting since the stuff is pretty Gamma Ray-esque. Cain's Offering - Stormcrow Cain's Offering was founded by ex Sonata Arctica members and has Timo Kotipelto from Stratovarius on vocals and that probably tells you everything you need about their sound. Way better than either SA or Strato have been in ages, though. Also heartily seconding the recs for Unleash the Archers and Wuthering Heights from preceding posts.
