I don't think that's lock-down, but prolly takes him off for this year and possibly next.

Yeah but it’s about as lockdown as you get at a place like Iowa State.

UCLA just hired Chip Kelly. USC recruits the #1 or #2 class in the conference and top 10 in the country most years. These are just games they have to play every year. In general they also have to get through 1-3 very difficult Pac-12 north teams every year. They have a rivalry game every season that at this point is pretty much a coin flip.

ASU is a program with a 10 win ceiling right now. This isn't me rivals posting, Arizona's a program with a 10 win ceiling. So is Utah, and the rest of the non-LA Pac South. Until one of the LA schools gets popped for NCAA violations or the bottom falls out of a couple of North teams (which people have been predicting the entire time I've followed college football closely and it hasn't happened, if anything an additional North tough win has been added in a resurgent Washington) or something that's not going to change.

I agree that Anderson's vision is unrealistic, and they're expecting more than what they're going to get (especially for how much money they're putting up). I'm just saying that given what Anderson wants, now is the best time for a change. I don't think whoever he hires is going to move ASU to where they want and it will likely cost him his job in 3-4 years.

I saw that Jim McElwain is "very interested" in the ASU job. Don't think he knows there aren't sharks here.

Seriously. You can’t even pretend you didn’t know about his past since A) it was pretty much common knowledge and B) you made a big “I swear I’m not an idiot” statement basically admitting that you knew all along and decided to hire him anyway. Throw him some money to go away. Let him put another wing on his house in Columbus since he won’t be leaving there any time soon.

Well gently caress. There goes our QB niche we almost had going. Mullen had highly ranked QBs already committed for '18 and '19 who are very likely to look elsewhere now.

I guess Pruitt or Venables would be cool if they don't get grabbed by a bigger fish. I'd really prefer an offensive guy, though.

I have no idea what the circumstances were but he was there from '76 to '92, took a year off, '94-'95, then 2004-'12.
