The power difference is more pronounced when you think about how many orks there are to the other races. So basically orks are the best but they don't care about it as much. It is silly gw fluff that has been around forever. Let the comedy relief race be strong, and try not to think about how actually terrifying they really are.

But I didn't get my first models until a couple of years later. In that case it was one of the start painting Marine boxes as a christmas gift or something. Still have those models and just cleaned them up for a repaint at some point. But I didn't really get into the hobby until much much later as well. And now my purchases are really piecemeal and usually just done via bitz retailers because I want one or two single models to paint instead of full squads. At this point I want game balance more than anything else, it was half the reason I got hyped for 8th, and was ready for them to scuttle 7th Ed. At this point it seems clear that the only way you will have anything close to that is by getting rid of the traditional codex cycle, and putting all the rules online where they can be updated in real time as problems arise. I don't really care what GW has to charge me annually to make up for lost profits due to overpriced books, or if I need to buy monthly art prints to keep the guys who used to draw concept art, solely to cram into these books, in business.

I said something about how it reminds me that, when the choices are dark grey and black, there's still a correct choice. Also that there were too many rightists in the hobby but that was a wargaming thing not a 40k thing per se.

Khorne talk; the Blood Pact, from Dan Abnett's Gaunt's Ghosts novels, are never specifically mentioned as being dedicated to Khorne, but are a great alternative to the "raving berserker" model of Khorne worship. They're brutal and viscous, but disciplined, with their structure deliberately modelled on the Imperial Guard, members of whom they sometimes subvert. Each member of the blood pact ritualistically scars their hands on the armour of their leader. Their specialists include snipers, infiltration teams, massed armour and warpcrafted weirdness. There's even a "blood witch" in one book who's basically a khornate sorcerer.

How are devastator squads this edition? I was thinking of splitting my Calth marines into two ten-man tactical squads and two five-man devastator squads (one gets all three heavy bolters and the other gets all three missile launchers)
