Not only has 50FA not posted recently but he wiped basically all his posts over in Traditional Games during the course of a day or so. A real pity there, nobody cares about the truth of the tale if it is told well enough.

Can't find his post, but IIRC his 'brother' came on and said he was dead.

Identical writing style.

And I've heard all kinds of poo poo about how hosed the Army was after Vietnam, so I was open to the truth of his stories, in spirit at least.

No it isn't, but it still tramples my bloody lavender.
50fa did some good stories and some poo poo ones but what soured it was every time he would show up people would just talk about whether that poo poo was real or not or if it was too exaggerated sounding.

The facts should never get in the way of a good yarn.

I'm of two minds on 50FA. On the one hand his stories were always fun and interesting and entertaining. On the other hand he stylistically presented them as "real," I want to say in the same way pro wrestling is presented as "real." A handful of people thought they were true. Then they drew conclusions about the stories.

In some states asking for your password is explicitly illegal. Federally you can at least make a reasonable argument that it's likely to violate the website's ToS while engaged in interstate commerce and is thus probably not kosher under some federal statute or other. Private sector employers should definitely not be asking, and you have very reasonable grounds to say no.

How quickly could the US air force bomb something to pieces if it needed too?

Lets say some potentially apocalyptic event happened in a major city, say LA, and the only way to save the country was to utterly devastate a good sized area immediately.

The "rules"

It has to be N O W!!
Non nuclear
Chemical weapons are ok if its quicker
COMPLETE removal of life is required, no consideration for civilians caught in the area, the size of a few city blocks but rapidly expanding.

Appreciate muchly the help!

So the search has been called off for the ARA San Juan after its disappearance on 15 November, and sonar analyst Bruce Rule has provided this writeup of his analysis of the sonar events and likely sequence of events in the loss of the submarine. He diagnoses it as a battery fire/explosion followed by the submarine sinking and imploding at 1200 feet. It's tragic, but I think the experts probably called this one based on the first reports and hopefully they have called all the families by now to give them some closure.

I think people are still piecing together the exact sequence of events, there seems to be some confusing information regarding the extent of damage reported by the submarine in its last transmission. Hopefully people are able to figure it out and take away some kind of useful lessons.

I think the lesson here is that you can totally ignore basic maintenance, or you can operate submarines, but you can't do both.

Although the crew may have known collapse was imminent, they never knew it was occurring. They did not drown or experience pain. Death was instantaneous.
