Bust Rodd posted:That’s not really true. Rick & Morty features the main character making GBS threads himself sloppily and covering a room in diarrhea, South Park isn’t even on the cutting edges of grossing people out and haven’t been for years I can think of at least one moment this season in which Squidbillies has blown South Park out of the water when it comes to satire.

South Park changed things though, they may not be on the cutting edge but "adult cartoons" were The Simpsons, or hentai, for a long time. Without south park pushing the edge of what advertisers and standards and practice departments accept those shows wouldn't be funded.

I'm watching Hummels & Heroin again and it's a fun storyline but, Christ, the Marcus character and his "frog shoved up Mr. Slave's rear end" soundalike voice just drags the episode down.

I guess its up to the Whites also: You can't even do coy satire about shooting the president

Well, at least it's over. There won't be any more bad episodes for a year. That would have been an interesting story for the whole season. But one episode wasn't enough to explore it very well. And the 3rd act was trash. Please come back good South Park.

Was kind of hoping twice this episode that one of Heidi or Eric would actually kill themselves. Just to make South Park edgy again.

Great episode. Wrapped up the theme of the season very well (need for victimization). Music choices were constantly funny . But if you want wackier, kid's games south park, play the game. It's for me just as good as stick of truth easily.

Last season they had the excuse of a crazy election and working on the new game. This season they have no excuse. They put out a 10 episode pile of poo poo. Just because you liked an episode or two or one of the acts in one of the episodes doesn't change the fact that the only season that was arguably as bad as this one was last one. And that one is the one that was universally vilified as the worst they have done. This is two bad years of South park in a row. It is very disappointing. And it's not that M&T aren't funny any more. Or that Trey forgot how to write. The talent is still there. There is a great lack of focus, though. The 1 week episodes is not working any more. They need to go back to spending more time creating or else we are just going to get more and more poo poo.

Not to make excuses, but I feel like this season was a coping process. Where they're trying to cope with everything that's changing in the world and how their old style of comedy isn't necessarily possible/constructive anymore, and gradually figuring out a way to still do it, and to find something to make jokes about other than Trump. Honestly, making fun of Trump feels like it's literally the only thing to joke about anymore, which is kind of depressing. I feel like they arrived at a good place but the journey wasn't necessary better than the destination. I'd still easily say this was better than the last season though. Even one or two good episodes with legitimate re-watch value are enough for that. "Put It Down" was a highlight.

Yeah this is probably the very least cohesive season we’ve ever had. It fell extra flat because I feel like “The Need For Victimization” has actually been the chief South Park sub-theme for like 10 years, so an entire season of soft balling that concept just fell super flat. I’m a die hard South Park apologist and I can’t think of an episode of this season I’d watch again in a hurry. Maybe the one where Tweak and Craig are focused on. They are amazing and their little story brings me joy

I liked the episode. There hasn't really been any all time classics here but I think the seasons are getting more well rounded over all. The Whites joke was great, and I'm sure there's some salty people in this thread that directly incensed. The deflection onto complaining about Hillary was well done. I also like how they can take some shots at liberal/PC culture as was the payoff to two co-workers having sex. Topically the Stranger Things/IT reference was well done. I think the FOX [News] Trap might have been the best gag that I didn't see coming. Actually, the joke about lovely 80s songs was better. I did feel like the end of Cartman/Heidi was a bit of a letdown considering I wanted to see more of Heidi as Fem-Cart(CartWOman?) but I liked the build up within the episode of reminding us how it all started and touching back on a few of the scenes.

How could seasons be getting more well rounded if the last two are the worst? Also, was anyone wondering if they were going to go so far as to have Heidi gently caress all the boys at the end of the episode in order to ward off Garrison with icky straight sex?
