My favorite example of the 90's is what happened to the Taurus. It's clear as day what happened when you look at the year by year styling changes.

Purple steelies with fake tri-spoke knock-offs, stupid miniaturized not-Rolls-Royce headlights, random French Yellow running lights, and xzibit "yo, we heard you like aero" buttresses. The body line from the rear of the front wheel arch to the flank looks like it's either going to break in half, or that the car is a Go-Bot transformer. The front grille has an upturned frown that doesn't follow any other line on the car. It should have been horizontal, or something, and the car looks like it's the Thing, but frowning. You shut up, the GT90 was awesome. Got to see it in person about a decade ago at a J Mays exhibit at MOCA in LA.

Yeah, sometime in the early '90s Ford discovered NURBS surfacing and, well 1995 1996 The Escort got hit with it too, but not to as great an extent. Has a bit of a Lotus face imo And the ZX2 I think is still a decent looking little coupe. Sagebrush fucked around with this message at 02:04 on Dec 7, 2017 |

quote:The GT90's 48-valve V12 is constructed on an aluminum block and head, and contains a 6.0-litre engine displacement, and produces up to 720 hp (537 kW; 730 PS). It is equipped with a forced induction system and is equipped with four Garrett AiResearch T2 turbochargers. The engine architecture was based on the 90-degree Ford Modular engine family utilizing a layout similar to that of a paired set of 4.6-litre V8 engines of which each had 2 cylinders removed. This yielded a 90-degree V12, with a 90.2 mm (4 in) bore and a 77.3 mm (3.04 in) stroke with the cylinders arranged in two banks in a single casting.[1] The power produced by the engine is delivered to the rear-wheels (making the car rear-wheel drive) by a 5-speed manual transmission. I know it was never real enough to be tested independently but what a monster for the mid-to-late 90s. I still think it looks hella cool too

Oh my god, they were doing the stupid-as-gently caress big silver plastic knobs and pushbutton gear shifting back in 2004 I mean, it starts out good enough, (for a Chrysler)(Chrylser Pacifica hood-lines notwithstanding): And then you get to the back--!

The only thing wrong with the rear end of the ME-Four-Twelve is the mass of LEDs in the taillights. Put some proper lenses inside there (keep the overall shape) and it'll look great.

"ok guys we got quotas to fill. we'll get the carbon fiber in down there, and we got a TON of suede to use up so that's gonna be the dash. that really just leaves the chrome, aluminum, grey leather and black plastic. oops and don't let me forget about the blue anodized o-rings. any ideas?"

God the ME-412 is so overrated. I'm sitting here looking at it, and I'm struggling to think of a mid-engine concept or super car that doesn't look better than it.

Was 95 peak Chrysler? First gen Neon, first gen Intrepid, 1st gen Avenger, 1st version of curvy-hood ram, Grand Caravan in a long design cycle. Last year of first gen Viper. Eagle still around. No Hemi and still the last dregs of the k cars but thats a pretty good domestic lineup. Plymouth though. (They had the best-looking Eclipse)
