i dunno if any of you nerds are hardcore space sim dudes but the guys who made the X series of space sim/empire building games are making X4: Foundations now, and it will be out in 2018 sometime. Looks like they learned a lot from getting screamed at about X Rebirth sucking poo poo a couple years ago, and this game is a lot more in the vein of X2 and X3 in allowing you to pilot every ship, can build anything, can trade anything etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuIeKMYaIAk

It was pretty wild seeing people say they dropped 6k on a game like it's no big deal I don't think I've spent 6k on video games total in the past 5 years, and that's including building a PC.

I spent like 50$ on Star Trek Online like five years ago. I was unemployed at the time so I played way too much of that game. Worth it IMO. Haven't spent anything on an F2P game since.

I typically spend for base game + dlc for racing games. For everything else, it depends how much I like the game. Still sitting on roughly half of the Witcher 3 plus all the expansion content.

I've spent maybe ~200 USD on World of Warships, but I got a ton of enjoyment out of my purchases and still play occasionally. I've got no problem with the F2P model but when 60 dollar games do it, I start looking elsewhere. Hell, I know Shadow of War isn't as bad as it was made to be in regards to the lootbox issue, but I wasn't planning on picking it up till Walmart had that pricing error. At that point, paying ten bucks for a hundred dollar version of the game, you tend to forgive a lot more.

I've dumped a few hundred into Marvel Heroes (1292 hours), and like a grand into Path of Exile (2816 hours in Steam, ~1500 hours non-steam) which translates into ~15 cents an hour, and ~23 cents an hour. Most of the Path of Exile stuff has happened recently since I actually make real money now and I like playing pretty princess dress up in that game, and unironically like supporting the developers. Other than that I've dropped like 20 bucks on a few random F2P games that I was playing with people, I wouldn't have done it if I was just playing with myself.

It's always extremely one-sided with one team losing half the players in the first few minutes and then getting spawn camped until the round ends.

I unlocked a couple jets and said gently caress it after that. Everybody else had so much time put into practicing and metagaming that I couldn't have fun anymore. I think I went back and started spading T1 planes since biplane dogfighting is relaxing.

Can anyone recommend a good iPad game while I’m marooned in my hotel and taking long flights over the next week? Already got FTL and Frozen Synapse, but looking for more fun stuff I can waste hours on and still be casual with.

I'm pretty sure I've dumped a couple of hundred bucks into World of Tanks since I started in 2012 or so. I don't mind spending 14 bucks for two months of premium, I set myself a hard cap for one subscription based game at a time back in my Ultima online days, and that's how I treat WoT. Now that I'm constantly using up maybe 10% of my self-allocated 160 bucks monthly allowance for booze & going out, I'm even fine with converting freeXP and buying my way through an unfun tank to get a fun tank occasionally. Ten bucks or so in WoT gold to save you a mediocre grind is okay in my book once a month of that means you get to clown on fools in a fun tank much quicker. /edit: I just actually realized for the first time since moving to Munich that I'm not using about a hundred and thirty bucks that I allocated to booze & going out, and now I'm scared I'll just blow it on other dumb poo poo like to-be-disposed-monthly income, because I didn't factor it into my savings percentage. Goddamn, going from a gtx 950 to a 1060 was a bigger leap than I anticipated. Went from 20-40fps on high/mid @ 900p in Rise of The Tomb Raider to glorious 60fps @ 1080p w/ everything on very high, and the Division had similar gains  Gonna install Doom next now that I can actually experience dat silky smooth 60fps. Man, it really feels like a new computer. PC gaming owns
