I don't have a "real" grocery store within a reasonable walking distance of me. So when I need regular, brand name things I just use Amazon unless it's included in my quarterly Costco pilgrimage. I do have a supermarket near work so I can pick up like one or two things though. My headset broke last night and a newer, better one will be at my door in a few hours. Glory to capitalism.

They're paid better than equivalent big box warehouses and those actually employed by amazon have decent benefits. Where employees get hosed is when they're still under the temp firm that brought them in. The difficulty of the labor should be expected. It's physically demanding, but not to a ridiculous extent. Probably the most laborious job there is Pick, and if you're not a ball of fat, it's pretty cake. Lots of walking, lots of mileage, but you're pushing a cart with anything heavy and at most carrying a scan gun. But plenty of fatasses will apply, work two days and quit because they got a blister on their foot. There are problems and problem people at amazon, but it's still leaps and bounds ahead of other warehouses. I spent six months working in one of their distribution centers, it's not bad at all.

Cue a bunch of people telling him to use patreon (which he does, apparently) or do an annual/monthly subscription, and he just comes back talking about some Doom house video he's working on and how merchandise doesn't make him any cash. Maybe take some of the ideas people are telling you and try to implement them, or at least advertise your patreon or let people know how badly the forums are hosed if you don't get $xx/month in revenue soon.

People have been telling him literally for a decade or more how to properly monetize the forums without selling out, and he's done either nothing or the exact opposite.

I try and make some sense out of his decisions, like maybe he's too embarrassed to just flat out ask for help, but at this point, it's either poo poo or get off the pot. He's got kids to take care of and probably alimony/child support to pay, and he seems to have no backup plan. If I wasn't invested in getting the site back to an actual business, I sure as gently caress would be looking for an actual job and turning this into a part-time gig instead.

Found one of my chickens dead and headless this morning. loving raccoons. It was very cold out the other night, so the dog slept inside rather than his usual night patrols. Raccoons saw a gap in patrols, and one of my chickens decided to sleep outside of the coop it seems like.
