It is. What he's talking about is if you support 100 different people, you should only be charged once and have Patreon divide it up internally, rather than have them charge you (and the associated fees) 100 separate times.

I think it's the other way around. You support 10 artists and it's a single CC charge from Visa.

I think it's more of "Person X is subscribed to 8 different Patreon accounts", Patreon makes one charge to their card for the total amount they're pledged across all of those and then distributes that money to the different accounts, making it one transaction on the individuals card. Now it's "Person X is subscribed to 8 differnt Patreons" *charges processing fee on each of those 8 accounts despite it only being one transaction on the persons card*.

I could be wrong though.

It's similar to Twitch, where if you're subscribed to multiple channels, your card gets hit on the anniversary date of your subscription to that particular channel, instead of all on the same day.

Also, currently if you have a patreon account and you are a patron, you can use payments that you haven't been paid yet to pay out to other creators.

Under the new system you can't do that and you'll be charged a processing fee for money that was always Patreon's in the first place.

Yes, but Twitch foots those processing fees, it's a part of their cut.

I thought the broadcaster ended up paying the transaction fees, but like, it just came out of their check?

Perhaps, and that's sort of how it works now with Patreon. But the thing is that literally every creator is okay with that because it's still more money than they'd get if they didn't have that subscriber in the first place. Pushing the processing fee to the Payer is ludicrously stupid.

See, this is what I was thinking at first, but then it also came out that Patreon still takes a further cut of what the creator gets. So while, yes, the creator is technically getting more by not paying the transaction fees themselves, they also still have an amount taken out of that money that is probably pretty close to what they were already losing. It's pretty blatant how much of a cash grab this is by Patreon.

Yeah, mo' money to justify the over-capitalization they have due to the VC crowd. They done got greedy during fundraising (as well as a sloppy round of overstaffing (IMO), so now they have to stay greedy to stay in business. Of course, I am not an MBA or your MBA, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

quote:

Though now equipped with a full-grown body and full-grown sexual drive, many ASD males are stuck emotionally at a prepubescent age. They look like grown men, but inside they’re only 10 years old. They don’t want adults to show them how sex is done; they want 10-year-olds to show them. Back in school when they were little and the other kids played “you show me yours and I’ll show you mine,” ASDs were left out. Now at last they’ve found a way to join the old childhood game and it’s with their trusty friend, the computer.

Except that’s not how the law sees it. Or how we see it. There are gaps not only in our legal appraisal of this bind, but also in our view of the sexual dynamics of ASDs.

To quote autism psychologist and researcher Gary Mesibov: “We often find that young men with ASD are functioning intellectually at average, or even above-average levels. However, their social and interpersonal level is that of a 10- or 11-year-old ... I think this explains why their social-sexual preferences are to observe girls at this age, just as typical 10- or 11-year-old boys prefer interacting, flirting, and thinking about sexual relationships with 10- or 11-year-old girls.”
