Most right-wing libertarians are a few bad days away from fascism.

I mean half the time their main issue is "I'm mad the government tells businesses they can't discriminate against black people," remember.

I like SMBC, but that cartoon really smacks of somebody who could, up to this point, afford to ignore politics suddenly being like "Wait, these leopards could actually eat my face?!"

Also, being that close to the Nazi rally where Heather Heyer was killed and still acting like you're above it all until, again, finally realizing that the leopard might actually eat your face...

I'm not sure how you're getting that from his portrayal of struggling to afford healthcare.

Basically all ostensible libertarians are nazis now. They come from the same place: egocentricism and a lack of empathy.

Libertarianism is born from the concept of "I'm amazing, so the only reason I'm not successful is the government is keeping me down". Which easily morphs into "I'm amazing, so the only reason I'm not successful is that anyone who isn't just like me has a position where they can criticize me". Which is the modern republican party.

I would ask the cartoonist if they're consider selling prints of it. God knows they're hard up for cash so I'm sure they'd be excited to hear that people would be interested in buying their art.

Speaking of cartoonists in financial trouble talentless assholes finally getting what they deserve, Kirschen has blamed print media's slow death as to why he has fallen on hard times. Last I checked, he has been working for the Jerusalem Post since 1973, so he'd have to be in some kind of staff position, right?

Franken's Staff Thinks The #MeToo Movement Got The Wrong Guy

quote:

In interviews with eight former Franken staffers and top campaign aides — most of them women — all of them felt that it was unfair for Franken to become to poster boy for sexual misconduct in Congress and some felt that he shouldn’t have resigned at all. They also applauded his defiant speech on the Senate floor Thursday, for which Franken has been criticized for not directly apologizing to his accusers.

“I am desperate to see change but this is not the solution”

“Many, if not most, offices in Congress are hostile environments for young women, and Franken’s office was not one of them,” said one former female staffer, who declined to be named because she still works in Democratic politics. I am desperate to see change, but this is not the solution.”

Gosh darn it, some people like him.

I know this thread's bread-and-butter is often aggressively missing the point of what somebody is trying to say, but this is getting a little ridiculous.

As plainly as I can, my issue is that, compared to the aloofness of the rest of his body of work, that cartoon makes me think, "Oh, now you decided to care now that current events directly affect you."

If you actually cared about this then you would have read the comic and realized Weiner specifically states that he and his wife are more or less fine since they can afford to just uproot and move elsewhere. So it really isn't about politics affecting him, but seeing first hand how our ridiculous health care system is loving up his community. At a goddamn civic meeting he attended because he is politically active enough to know what's going on in his community. But his comic that is mostly about dumb science jokes isn't pointedly political enough for you. So let's focus on THAT instead of the actual problem.

Basically, you're a walking ironicat and we'd have fewer posts missing the point if you'd stopped making them.

Zelda reminds me of when the Penny Arcade guys became responsible adults.

Things got all "you know when the teacher calls you to the Parent-teacher conference and you know you're in for a whacky time, oh boy"

I'm obviously not responsible enough to get why the dad is going out after a night of wine and snacks and TV. It must be at least midnight at this point. Is he going to work?
