GWBBQ posted:There was plenty of argument about treason a few thousand pages ago and I want to reiterate that the first two people convicted and sentenced to death for treason (although Washington pardoned them) were a guy who beat up a tax collector and a guy who robbed a post office. The legal code has expanded since the 1790s, and it's not at all clear whether there is still a need for a catch-all term like treason anymore. e: Horse tax

So they either did it themselves or recklessly took to reporting their news before confirming their news. The real news media, meanwhile, waited to do some basic checking before running the story and immediately found the crack. And neither of these ideas will change the right wing notion that the real news media just recklessly reports their news before confirming and you can only trust sources like Gorilla Cum on Twitter? That's pretty special right there.

The same could be said about Robert Hanssen spying for the Soviets (and later the Russians). Instead, they pursued charges of espionage, because the laws surrounding it are much clearer than those applying to treason. I'd imagine the same line of thinking will be applied to any charges stemming from the Trump-Russia connection.

Wouldn't ever count on them voting Democrat, but it seems like enough that they'd just stay home entirely as far as voting goes. That's like being so bored you kick yourself in the head and then complaining about your broken nose all day.

The problem being that since no one has been convicted of treason in 65 years. Prosecuting them with treason would certainly mean they are found "not guilty" and then the whole opportunity was wasted. It's like the prosecutor practically sabotaged the George Zimmerman trial by going for second degree murder.

I really don't think Trump is going to fire Mueller. He's just going to scream "fake news!" at whatever Mueller dredges up and pretend its not an issue. Unfortunately it probably won't be an immediate issue either since Congress won't do a drat thing, but its certainly going to sink him in the long run.

The fact someone like Gardner goes out and practically begs Jones to vote with them after a race against Moore is madness. The best part of this is that I distinctly and clearly remember the FBI being huge trump fans during the campaign and election and in fact the loving FBI released information to hurt clinton that likely gave the last push to give trump the win. And yet here they are, insulting them in the most low down, dirty, likely personally offensive way they possibly can. Has everyone learned yet? If you gently caress with trump, you will be destroyed and poo poo on or hosed over for your troubles. No matter what you are, no matter what you're doing. Anything having to do with trump will inevitably end with you getting hosed over. How many decades of this being true does it take?
