I got that graveyard fence kill finally. No achievement. All I can think of is either a) The new kills that have been added also count or b) I got an obscure kill before they fixed the game wayyyy back when the game was new.

a bug with the tommy jarvis bot specifically right now is that if he finds a drawer with a map or a radio he will keep opening it forever until you come by and attack him. pretty sure the bots keep track of whether or not they have a map/radio and jarvis isn't properly setting his "i have this" flag when he spawns.

Another bug with Tommy is that he can show up even if all the power is out before you kill any of the bots and they never repair the generators.

if they've made the call he should show up regardless; the behavior where he would not show up if he has been called and the generator is killed afterward was a bug that they supposedly fixed a while ago.

So, you basically have to get really lucky to prevent him from showing up now. That kind of sucks.

I'm not freaking out about it or anything but that was an extra layer of strategy to the game that's gone now and I feel like it might be worse for it.

I don't know much about technology, but is it possible for them to collect data from what players do during matches to create a ghost and plug that behavior into the offline bots?

Someone mentioned a Chad bot running around with the battery not helping so it sounds like they did that.

you can collect all the data you want, the hard part has always been making insights from that data. the insights that you are talking about are pretty sophisticated and require a lot of curation.

in short, it might be POSSIBLE but it would be a pretty serious time investment so don't count on it happening basically ever.

Got it, thanks! :) Though it would be hilarious if they got data on Burkion and used it to make the most baffling offline bots ever. :v:

Tommy not showing if the power was out never made any sense. If the radio call has been made, it isn't like that transmission wasn't received.

You mean the machete to the neck one, where he kind of facepalms their now-loose head and then it breaks backward and dangles? The little bit of struggle and the snapping sound kinda makes that one, eesh. It's just too bad Part 7 sucks poo poo, but at least now I have a cool kill to watch when I steamroll some bots I guess.

the hard bots are definitely better at the repair minigame than the easy bots, but fundamentally they're all destroyed by their delicate pathfinding. packanack lodge and its little outbuildings are basically one big tangle of pathfinding errors waiting to happen.

all this said, i like the offline bots. they're an awfully good effort for what they are, allow you to explore the maps as jason at your leisure, and for newer players who are really attached to getting XP for a specific perk or whatever, they make for a really efficient and stress free way to get unlock points.

and, deep down, they knew it was going to be grinding for unlock points, primarily. i think it's quite telling that they don't award the No Survivors XP bonus on an offline game - presumably because they drat well knew no survivors is gonna be the norm.

何 ??

So I took AJ into the water, which put her too far away to grab, but too close to the shore to drown. Also her pathfinding broke so she spent the entire match in existential terror until I came back to whip knives at her head and free us both from the match.

she was close enough to hit with a pickaxe but that's less funny

Nonsense. I have not yet begun to defile myself.

I find myself with 7/8s, but that last one is usually a Betrayed. I can only assume given Chadbot's behavior that this is him running someone over with a car on his mad escape

Ok, the bots just impressed me.

Crystal Lake Small. I grab the knives, morph to the phone house, put down 2 traps, and quickly kill Chad, who was hanging around there. Immediately after, Kenny starts a car. Like, this was maybe 2 minutes in at most, likely less. Didn't mess up any of the repair games, starts the car and drives.

I stopped him, of course, but still.

Meanwhile, they did a good job of making me ping-pong between the now-a-threat car and the phone house. Car got restarted twice and I morphed to the phone house just in time to stop a call to the cops once. It's the most coordinated I've seen the AI. Shot me a few times too. They seem to find all the guns quickly

I still 8/8'd, but I was impressed.

I think the small maps are better for the AI. Since all the objectives are closer together, it seems to have an easier time directing counselor movement to get poo poo done.

Yeah, really enjoying the bots. Shame the badge unlocks don't count though. Tried playing some online games and playing with just 4 other people was just heartbreaking. I hope it's just a small, one off thing. I hope the community is still going strong on steam.

So yeah, the AI definitely handles small maps infinitely better than the large ones. With at least some consistency, the AI gets more than one objective accomplished within a reasonable time (5 minutes or less) if I'm not interfering. Even when I do, I've found that they will manage to get a car started while I'm fusing with the phone box, and they do a better job of making me bounce between objectives.

They're still dumb as rocks and have weird pathing issues crop up, especially when running from you, but on the large maps they're basically hopeless, while on the small maps they're at least novice-pubbie-level.

Jarvis House map is the worst for them. It's so spread out and the terrain varies more than any other map. They get caught on things easily (especially in the two big houses), and since boats don't spawn in AI matches, there's only ever the one car and a phone, making the match all the easier on you.

Useful for really learning the ins and outs of the Jarvis House though.

Yeah, it doesn't make me sick but there's something unpleasant there. Feels like a combination of FOV and some kind of framerate inconsistency that isn't really there in the main game.

I noticed something similar last night while playing a couple of rounds. Smaller maps definitely favor the bots because they managed to get both cars at least semi ready to go on the small map I played, but they are still dumb as hell and will group up like there's no tomorrow.

Also I watched 3 seperate bots jump out of a window to escape me, only to run right through the front door a second later. It was pretty hilarious to watch AJ burst in, look at Jason and the go into the calm door closing animation.

Jarvis House is a nightmare because it's so god drat big and spread out that I spent the last chunk of a round hunting for a loving Mitch bot because somehow he decided that hanging out on the far right side of the map, away from the objectives was a good idea.

Also I'm pretty sure there's some kind of bullshit going on with shotgun spawns because I was chasing an AJ who shot me with a flare, ran around for a bit with me right behind her, then ran onto the nearby dock and just picked up a shotgun. I had already killed two other counselors who attempted to take me down with shotguns so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I like the bots, although I think they could certainly use a bit of tweaking. Looking forward to actually digging into Virtual Cabin beyond the quick walk around I did the other night.

Always, always; Tommy bot is no where to be found. 7/8 with the bots is easy as pie and I'm so happy for that, but Jesus could Tommy not go jack off behind a random bush until one minute before the games over?

Also I was pretty surprised, the counselors always seem to be near a car with gas when the round first starts. It feels like you need to be careful, even if you do find them doing stupid poo poo sometimes, like start running towards you when you turn stalk on, or running infinitely into a wall (Shelley, which I found poignant)

Im always ending up playing Savini Jason with people, but the bots let me try out other Jason's. 2 is God tier, gently caress 7.
