You're probably correct, but on the other hand UF fell off of a cliff once Urbz had had enough of Gainesville (and once Mullen and Tebow left).

The Woodbey to FSU thing started because some rando creepy fan tweeted at Woodbey two weeks ago that he should go to FSU and Woodbey tweeted back that FSU is stupid because they never offered him and this totally led to the offer happening so the moral of the story is that tweeting at recruits works

Yes that guy was the #1 JUCO TE. Since it was between us and Bama, I wonder how Pruitt's relationship is this morning with Saban? We had some real nice pickups between him , Jordan Allen, and the 2 guys out of Memphis. Also we had several guys who OV last weekend or had an in-home visit with Pruitt who have all of sudden delayed their signing. We are in pretty good with several top recruits. If this turns out to be a top 15 class it would be an an amazing save.

Edit:

3 SEC East teams in the Simmons' top 5 winners of ESD? I hope this a sign of things to come. It is time for the SEC East to rise back up. Also congrats to UGA for a monster class. Tennessee is going to need a top 5 class in 2019 so they can try to keep pace.

Yeah, uh, the Jack Carman comments were weird and bad, like "wants less pressure" and "Urban's old" being things is a really bizarre way of framing that you want to go to a school that won the title last year with a coach 4 years older than Meyer. That said, I can understand him just feeling more comfortable and at home at Clemson and wanting to go there, rather than have everyone assume he's a Buckeye because he's from Ohio (which is such a dumb loving thing in the age of Urban recruiting nationally and especially considering he's from the part of the state that cares the absolute least about OSU).

Woodbey's ceremony was quite literally the worst thing I've ever watched a recruit do for a commitment. Like, oh my god why would you ever think it's a good idea to grab your idiot friends on a live feed and promote your twitter handles and shady AAU-type poo poo. Like, Seantrel Henderson and Bryce Brown didn't manage that level of inanity, and that's really saying something. I wish I could place a prop bet on him DMing that FSU porn star Chad Kelly-style within the next two weeks, because that appears to be the level of smart he is.

So sad and so true. I think even in our recent years with merely good classes rather than outstanding ones, we were at or near the top of the conference for recruiting. It has not translated into contending for conference titles. And as amazing as the talent level in this class is, it doesn't fully address our areas of great need. We desperately need to get some more D-line dudes before February, and at least one more JUCO OL would sure be nice. Hopefully having all this talent locked up and ready to play alongside them will help us get the rest on board.

This is infinitely better for about 115 of the 130 teams or whatever. The only people bitching are the Alabamas, OSUs, etc. who can wait until the literal last minute to get rejected and swoop in and steal someone else's prized recruit leaving them high and dry.

Feels like the best NCAA decision they've made in years.

Yeah, like UK signed all but one of their commits and several guys we've gotten signed (Kinnard, McCall, Square) are the types of guys big time programs would try to steal at the last minute to fill out their class. It's nice not having to worry about that this year.

KKKLIP ART
Sep 3, 2004

One thing I also saw is that it is also good for the players in the sense that if a big program like an Alabama, OSU, or whatever, tells you to wait on signing, that means you are probably the backup plan and you can know to shop around for another school that wants you waybad.

VT signed 23 of 25, one of those is signing in February with his whole team and the other is going to decide between us and GT. There's 3-5 kids still on VT's plate so that gives the staff a ton of time to focus on them instead of being spread thin fending off the vultures.

I wasn’t expecting much from this year since it’s transitional (I think our recruiting class is in the top 30, much like Herman last year) but A&M got a few decent O-lineman and a tight end on signing day. Hey, maybe Jimbo will actually use a tight end in his scheme— they were criminally underutilized under Sumlin.

What’ll be really interesting will be how Fisher & co. do next year vis a vis recruiting in Texas. Herman seized on our transition to take most of the best in Houston, but I imagine he’ll have a harder time doing the same next year.

There was that talk for years about how Mack would sign all of the top players as juniors and then get super lazy. That's changed, but you guys from afar still seem to have a crazy amount of roster turnover.

It's hard to evaluate, because who's to say it's not the best for the kids that they get the opportunity to play elsewhere? Although knowing Bama, they'd get recruited over and forced off the team, and/or it means someone else loses their roster spot.

Because dickhead adults calling kids hours from signing day going "sign here sign now now now do it do it do it" is never in the kid's advantage and that's exactly what happens with those 11th hour switches, kids bite on the pressure hard and the ink dries before they even have time to maybe regret it.
