What are the QoL changes in that version anyway? Aside from adding Akyu as a party member (what are her skills like anyway?).

I can't remember most of the QoL changes beyond minor menu stuff, but there's an entire extra expansion's worth of content, including Level 99 versions of every dungeon in the game.

Akyuu's deal is she gains nothing from leveling up, and instead gains bonuses based on enemies she lands the finishing blow on. Different races of enemy give her different bonuses, so one gives her strength, magic, etc. Another race gives her new physical/magical skills, and she can also gain passive party-wide bonuses like extra money/exp. And if you think that sounds like a pain in the rear end, she's also built to be a Commander, with like 5 spells to most characters' 2.

e: While I'm thinking about it, DoDW's changes are even more expansive, with every character getting their own set of abilities on top of the shikigami skills. Plus they can all be toggled inbetween party member/shikigami status, so you can have Marisa equip Reimu or whatever. I think Satori, Tenshi, Cirno, and Shinki are all playable in it.

You can get it physicall on Amazon or digitally through Melonbooks. Just make sure it has that specific boxart, since there's 3 different versions (4 if you count the Vita one). Alternatively, :filez: is not hard to find.

The Vita one is just on the Japanese PSN and is the most most up-to-date and I'll be very jealous of you if you buy it.

Oh, I guess Weekend did get a digital PC release eventually, that's good.
If anyone is interested, here's a link to the English patch. You just plop the game and image .pak files in the Packages folder and you're set.

Jeez, I didn't realize they actually added so much more to them. Thought they were just simple ports with an extra feature or two.
I played through all of DoD with nothing but a sheet of paper where I noted what symbol meant what moves and such. Might have to do that again too if I somehow ever find the spare time. No clue how I managed to finish the whole thing with expansion with the old terrible shikigami recruitment rates.

Maybe not. RS 2 probably has the least infuriating confusing bullshit of any SaGa game that I've played. And I think I might have played all of them except for unlimited.

yeah, you definitely gotta plan ahead if you use magic

It's rough and I'm not sure what element(s) to focus on. Light and Earth or Fire maybe? Earth seems to have an atk buff you can use on others at least. Getitng caught up in magic levels is going to suck either way and just having everyone use magic for a turn or two in as many random fights as I can safely do so isn't going to cut it. :(

I wish you coul see all the spells per element before they're unlocked somehow. It'd be nice to know what element(s) to focusa on for good healing/buffing. Right now it seems like earth and water are your best bets but I really want a decent AOE heal right now.

the character designer on skullgirls did not work on xenoblade 2. i don't think they would ask the person who designed that character in skullgirls to do guest art on a big jrpg for various reasons

Well the character in question was designed by a doujinshi artist who popped up in all the Japanese twitter accounts I follow when a woman interviewed him for a BBC documentary basically calling Japan a nation of pedophiles. He told her to gently caress off for 3 hours and none of his footage was used.

the best part of that documentary was that bbc interviewer saying that some of the people she interviewed were very polite so clearly the monolithic entity of Japan supported her endeavors.

how do you even get people to not be polite in japan.

Oh man I just remembered this, it was embarassing. The interviewer was all like "Humans are born innocent and it's your media that corrupts them" or something like that.
The dude in question being interviewed makes some manga about girls and tanks? And by the end the interviewer was pretty much going on about Japan needing to adopt superior UK values, so the guy threw some crime statistics and asked why they don't fix their own problems first. I think that's probably why they avoided the footage.

girls und panzer isnt even that weird, its mostly just sincerely drawn tank battles and minor cultural trivia about russian marching songs.

obviously theres discussions to be had about japan's laws relating to certain things, the culture it has relating to certain things, but i think you'd want to focus on it being a tier 2 human trafficking nation before you focus on the fact that one guy drew a panzer doing an ollie.

the ways in which it manifests are unique but sexualizing young girls is a universal issue. it's easy to look at what someone else does as hosed up since you've grown up in your own culture's fuckedupness.
