My autocorrect is disabled on my phone, but it still randomly changes words, especially if I go back and edit them after finishing a sentence. It's a crappy $60 LG, so I wonder if that has something to do with it.

After the latest OS version update, my Android phone developed a habit of doing the best combination of all: it keeps both the orignal and the autocorrected word! So instead of duck or gently caress, it gives me duckfuck.

I seem to remember someone figuring out exactly what caused that. Maybe it was a couple of people, I can't remember exactly. I want to say it happened in a yospos thread? Maybe it was just mentioned there, idk. Like, there's one specific failure that could cause those specific characters to show up, it was noise on a specific line on a video memory bus or something to that effect. It was some awesome turbo-geek CSI.

Holy poo poo All the wrong letters are the result of flipping bit 0x08 on the correct letter -- bad RAM?

every 4th character has the same bit forced to zero, some of them would've had that bit at zero anyway and don't look broken. So, more generally: The same bit of every 32 bit word is zero because of hardware failure.

Buttcoin purse posted:Don't swype-based keyboards have to autocorrect because you're not necessarily making it completely obvious which letter you wanted to hit? Or am I like an old who doesn't know how to use modern smartphones? You can still tap-type on a swipe-enabled keyboard. When swiping it puts the word it thinks you most likely meant into the text field and offers a bunch of alternative suggestions in the list for you to select, or if it guessed right you can just move on to typing the next word.

Okay, this video is one of the Trailer Park Boys, and what is supposed to make it funny is how OSHA it is. But the actor doing these "stunts" made me cringe in fear. Kind of surprised he agreed to do some of this. Good stuff starts at about 1:50. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GRRaaH2_LY

Fill your copper pipes with finely ground salt ($0.90/kg at Woolworths) when you're shaping them (unless you have a proper mandrel, then use that). They'll still kink if you're determined, so keep that in mind. Really don't use soldered or sweated joints.
