wolrah posted:Just the other day I had three servers delivered which were supposed to be signature required and the guy just dropped them on the porch. I was not only home but visible through the window and he didn't even ring the doorbell. I had it happen when I left the front door open a couple years ago. I'm not saying its foolproof, but at least you can get the stuff replaced on the delivery companies dime if something goes wrong. Or free poo poo if you want to be dishonest about it.

Poorly designed tweet. They didn’t even include the good bits: “The accessible speakers are being exploited by hackers that are using them to play spooky sounds, Alexa commands, and Rick Astley tracks.”

34C3 is enjoyable. I was worried about the change in location but despite everything being massive I think they've done a good job of avoiding the "exhibition area" feel - this new location feels 5x as big as the older one in Hamburg. Despite the twitter drama most everyone seems to be having a good time and I'm not seeing any lovely people being lovely to each other. not a substitution to wiggly wayne but here's a couple I enjoyed: This talk was pretty good (probably best out of those I've attended so far) https://media.ccc.de/v/34c3-8879-mobile_data_interception_from_the_interconnection_link This talk is also very good, but sadly there was a tech issue so he couldn't use his slides. He worked from the website instead and did a pretty good job of recovery: https://media.ccc.de/v/34c3-9276-forensic_architecture This is a good quick society-type talk that's pretty hosed up and sad about the seizing of a search and rescue ship and the smearing campaign thereof: https://media.ccc.de/v/34c3-8806-the_seizure_of_the_iuventa Other talks I've heard were good were the Iran one and the WPA2 one but I didn't see them.
