Michigan? Don't they regularly get snow and ice? How do they not know how to drive in those conditions

We had a 15 car pileup today on a plowed and slip free road just because of a small patch of fog. The rest of the road was smooth sailing. That spot is bad though, it's right next to a river that makes really thick fog with zero visibility. So even places that are used to snow and cold can have something happen that will cause disasters. Was that the first major snowfall for that area? Because when that happens here it guarantees minimum 200 accidents within the first 24 hours.

The problem is that someone spins out for whatever reason (commonly due to whiteouts or black ice), someone hits that guy, and then people just start piling up because they're doing 50-60 MPH and can't stop when they see the pile-up.

If you're driving too fast to stop before you reach the limits of vision, you're doing it wrong.

I am utterly shocked - SHOCKED, I say - that a noted assclown youtuber Logan Paul made a video about going to the goddamned Suicidie Forest and filmed a dead body he found.

A few channels I follow appear to have had past videos demonetized recently for swearing. Videos that were up for years. Youtube needs to get its poo poo together. I get that the whole Elsagate was a shitshow but their way of dealing with it is backfiring hard and hurting people who don't deserve it at all. So... who is this and why should we care? Google only turns up a right-wing extremist version of Wikipedia that apparently puts yellow Stars of David in the text next to the name of anyone Jewish, and that's not what I'd call a credible source.

Those with the spikes? Pretty sure those are illegal on roads, and what do you expect me to do, change my tyres every time it snows? lol" The other 50% think: "lol my tyres say all-season, that includes winter, loving duh" In a Venn diagram, you could include another group comprised by equal parts of both those halves, that think "lol I have a truck and 4WD, winter tyres are for commies" Then, 100% of the inhabitants drive too fast for the conditions and then refuse all personal responsibility when poo poo happens.

I think a lot of people must be in the habit of driving their cars by alternating between 100% throttle and 100% braking because most of the snow related accidents I see happen on perfectly level and straight stretches of road. Just driving along and suddenly the person in front of me will floor it and fling themselves off the side of the road for no reason. And of course even with there's several inches of snow on the road so you have to travel at 10 mph in a 65 area, everyone still does the usual routine of following so closely that you can't even see their headlights in your rear view mirror.

A few years ago I was sitting in the queue to get onto the Throgs Neck Bridge, crawling toward the toll plaza. Normal weather conditions, no rain or anything. I was in the passenger seat, and happened to be looking in my side mirror when an SUV came up on us from that side, at a pretty normal cruising speed, like about maybe 50. Suddenly the SUV jerked slightly to the right and immediately flipped head over heels and somersaulted two or three times and came to rest a couple of car lengths behind me in the next lane over, upside down. I was like, "...Huh. Anyway.... "

I've noticed that it's usually a truck or SUV that's the cuprit, mainly because most people don't understand that 4 wheel drive =/= traction. I remember one year seeing a big red Chevy truck on the side of the road, the front driver's side wheel, rotor and all was about a quarter mile down the freeway, the license plate? "Lucky 2"

If you're driving too fast to stop before you reach the limits of vision, you're doing it wrong. The dangerous thing about whiteouts is the conditions change instantly and visibility can go from a mile to 0 in seconds. People then panic and slam on the brakes, skidding out and creating hazards all over the road. Whiteouts are scary as hell.

Even perfectly level and straight stretches of road can have different traction levels from tire to tire. I lost control last weekend because of that - snow was coming down so I'd dropped speed (enough that people were passing me), hit a slick patch, and wound up on the side of the road. Sometimes you're just gonna hydroplane and just have to hope for the best. (No injury, no damage to the car, and even the glassware I had in the trunk survived. I got lucky!)

She got her start as a Tumblr idiot, but she's a virulent anti-socialist who continues to defend capitalism and hate on welfare and universal healthcare despite being poor and suffering from a battery of medical problems, in addition to being a literal child according to things she's admitted: * Only recently learned how to use a stove. * Is only allowed by her parents to cut off 2 inches of hair at a time so her hair is incredibly long. * Said that someone who claimed to know her growing up was lying because she never had friends over as a kid. I asked her on Twitter if she would support universal healthcare after complaining about waiting hours to see a doctor, and she said universal healthcare would cause it to take months and then blocked me.

There's a reality show called Canada's Worst Driver (some of it is on US Netflix) where they put people through very simple driving challenges like 'drive in a straight line and don't hit anything' or 'drive in reverse'. One of the challenges is a car with no roof and a giant tub of water on top and all they need to do is accelerate slowly and then break evenly so the water stays in the tank. Every single person floors it and immediately dumps half the water into the car, and then slams on the breaks as soon as they hit the requested speed and dumps the other half in the car, and then bitches that it is impossible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB_CtVQUY80
