And then they also got us a roof rack for our car, so we'd have no excuse not to take all of these presents back with us. AHHHHHH, I love them but AHHHHHHH! Take that money and put it toward your debt so we don't have to support you in your old age! I don't want random hunks of plastic poo poo in my house. My kid doesn't need more toys, and certainly not ones that don't fit or don't belong to same set, or are just annoying. This is a common feeling among parents. You want to show your affection for me and my kid? Honor my wishes, give cash, make a donation or something.

If we could somehow convince people that essential oils would cure thier non-celiac gluten sensitivity and other imagined medical conditions we could make a mint on that poo poo without hurting anyone.

They're offering their services for 10%, but in all honesty, I grew up very poor and homeless when I turned 18 and have just been working dead end jobs back to back ever since. Some people are saying just put it in savings, some say crypto/stocks, some say IRA. What should I do? Not really a funny situation, but I'm glad they're trying to get better advice than whoever they were previously asking. And I have no personal experience but comments are pointing out that he can probably get the money himself a lot cheaper, assuming it's even true.

The only cure is a halfway one, that being time, in which fads die out. The reason why it's a halfway cure is that it will be replaced with equally fraudulent and annoying pseudo-diseases. It struck me as I was driving home today, people actually want to have diseases as a fashion statement / because everyone else was doing it / because they do.

My mom started talking about essential oils a few years back and I got concerned she was about to get sucked into an MLM or something. Then I heard he ranting about idiots on facebook putting essential oils on their young kids and I become less concerned. Now she just uses essential oils in making soap and poo poo that she sells through local retailers as a post-retirement way to get a little money on the side. Came close to BWM and ended up slightly GWM.

It just doesn't register. They are under such financial pressure with looming retirement and no safety net that any second they get ahead they spend to feel prosperous. It's sad. We try not to involve ourselves too much in their financial decision making.

I was on food stamps and was definitely low income, but I put my money towards the things I enjoyed (owning horses and horseback riding/camping) and lived in the country on acreage which I love. And now she lives in the Northeast and HATES it SO much. From her perspective the husband's a dick though.

People getting mad about family giving them gifts is one of the biggest First World Problems you can come up with this time of year. If your kids already have plenty of toys then you can take the unneeded toys and donate them to kids whose family couldn't afford any presents. Even better, get your kids involved to help them understand how privileged they are.
