Mechina https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TisWoTVehc ( First 3 minutes is story intro: "*bzzz* Sentient located, sentient located...memory frag in progress....*screaming*" ) The early 2000's albums were straight up 90's Fear Factory clones but by the 3rd album he settled on a very symphonic, movie-sound track metal vibe. It feels like you're listening to a movie - every few songs or within the songs there are samples/non-lyrical story elements interspersed. Every album is part of a big story about basically the human planet vs. the robot planet, where both peoples live on Titans that are basically world-sized god-robot weapons that they worship ( if you play video games, think of Xenoblade Chronicles ), and he releases an album to continue the story almost every year ( the past few albums he committed to 1 album per year ). The fans have created a Wiki that explains the story, album order/concepts and the stories told in the individual songs: http://mechinamusic.wikia.com/wiki/The_Mechina_Wiki that Joe Tiberi ( the main dude of 2 in the band ) approves/comments on. Here is a rough summary of the story: http://mechinamusic.wikia.com/wiki/Story_Overview And finally since I think you play guitar, it may interest you to know that Joe Tiberi plays an 8-string and all digital ( of course ) amp modelling, here's a guitar demo of a song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kQcdWaPhxE

Yikes, stay away from any comment sections about Decapitated. Calling for the death of the woman accused when we don’t really even know what happened is not a great look for metal fans.

Also the new Annihilator sucked real bad, so now I'm looking for some fresh totally obnoxious guitar-centric solo-after-solo speed to bang my head to, any suggestions?

Didn’t pull me in at all, sounded dull, etc. but i don’t know, the riffs and feel got to me. The entire band is super tight and they’ve got that old school playing so fast they can barely hold together sound while also sounding modern. There’s this quote from Dave Mustaine about how modern thrash lacks personality and human feel and I think Power Trip brings that up front and doesn’t sound exactly like anyone else. Nothing wrong with not digging it though for sure. Every 2017 album was a long period grower now that I think about it. A few like the Chelsea Wolfe and Mastodon albums worked right away but everything else needed a bunch of times through.

Yep and besides Converge might as well be their own genre at this point. I always thought the metalcore tag didn’t age well with them.

Metal places fall all over themselves for every Converge album, because they’re the consensus greatest metalcore band of all time. I like Code Orange but I don’t get why critics became obsessed with them. They obviously had a huge marketing push for Forever but it’s also their worst album. And I’m starting to get annoyed with how seriously they seem to take their tough guy (and gal) image, especially when Adventures exists. Not Very Metal posted:is acme metalcore? cause acme is loving sweet: Yes, Acme kicks rear end.
